We went prehistoric at The Playroom today with a dinosaur-themed Footytotz session!

Our little dinosaurs were busy running, jumping, kicking and stomping their way through lots of football fun! 🦖

Plenty of opportunities to develop balance, coordination, gross motor skills and confidence, all through active play.

Big roars, little feet and lots of energy! 💚⚽

🍂🎶 Autumn adventures with Music Bus! 🎶🍁

Sarah brought a little autumn magic to The Playroom today! 🧡

From colourful parachute play and floating autumn leaves to bubbles, musical instruments and plenty of singing, our little ones were fully immersed in the fun!

We explored rhythm, movement and sound, developing our listening skills, coordination and confidence along the way.

Lots of laughter, excitement and some very enthusiastic little musicians! 🥁🍂

🦊🍂 Foxtail Soup! 🥣 AD

Fresh from the Gruffalo’s kitchen… today’s special is looking rather furry!

Our little chefs have been busy whipping up a rather unusual autumn delicacy, combining colourful pasta, lentils, conkers and fluffy foxtails! 🧡

Our Cosy Potion Jars and Enchanted Wooden Spoons from added a little extra magic to the recipe, encouraging plenty of scooping, stirring, pouring and imaginative storytelling. ✨

A wonderful invitation to explore textures, develop fine motor skills, experiment with quantities and bring one of our favourite stories to life!

No foxes were harmed in the making of this soup! 😂🦊

🐍🍓 SNAKE WITH STRAWBERRY SAUCE 🍓🐍

Straight from the pages of Gruffalo Granny…

Today we brought one of the story’s rather questionable dishes to life — snake with strawberry sauce! 😂🐍🍓

Lots of squeezing, pouring, mixing and stirring as the children made their own strawberry sauce before serving it up with plenty of snakes!

A lovely way to extend a story beyond the book, encouraging imaginative play, new vocabulary, fine motor skills and plenty of conversation along the way.

Thankfully, no snakes were actually eaten. 😂

🦉🍕 OWL PIZZA, ANYONE?!

We couldn’t possibly let the arrival of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s brand-new Gruffalo Granny pass us by without a Playroom activity to go with it!

So today our tuff tray became a very busy little owl pizza restaurant. Inspired by the story, the children got straight to work taking orders, choosing their toppings, building their pizzas and popping them into the oven — with plenty of feathers scattered around because, apparently, owl chefs are VERY messy. 😂

And underneath all that pizza making was a whole lot of learning…

🍕 choosing and counting toppings
🦉 imaginative and story-inspired role play
🍕 turn-taking, sharing and working alongside friends
🦉 developing language as we talked about orders, ingredients and the story
🍕 fine motor skills as little hands picked up, placed, cut and moved the pieces
🦉 sequencing as we made, cooked and served our pizzas
🍕 making choices and creating our own combinations

We LOVE taking a story the children are excited about and bringing it off the page and straight into their play.

Gruffalo Granny has officially landed at The Playroom… and naturally, we opened a pizza shop. 🦉🍕

A pan full of autumn treasures -leaves, pine cones, orange water and plenty of mixing, pouring and stirring.

All 3 and 4-year-old children are entitled to 15 hours per week of funded early education from the term following their 3rd birthday up until they reach compulsory school age. It's for every child irrespective of background or family circumstances.

If your child was born between 1 September, 2023 and 31 December, 2023 they will be considered for a nursery place from January 2027, if your application is received before 31 October.

Monday yoga with Rachel 🧘‍♀️

We started our week with a lovely yoga session, practising our breathing using the breathing ball — opening it as we breathed in and closing it as we breathed out.

We waved our colourful scarves, gave ourselves some big cuddles and finished by lying back, relaxing and watching the projector on the ceiling.

A lovely calm start to our Monday 🤍
