From one tutor to a team of 40. 💜

We're so pleased to share that Carrie Burke Tutor Work has been featured by TutorCruncher in their latest customer story blog.

The article takes you behind the scenes of how the business has grown over the past nearly seven years, from a journey into teaching and tutoring to building a team of around 40 active tutors across Greater Manchester.

But growth has never just been about numbers.

It’s been about finding the right tutor for each child, building confidence, supporting families and making sure every student gets the support they actually need.

Of course, as the team grew, so did the admin. Systems became just as important as the tutoring itself, helping us manage the day-to-day without losing sight of what matters most.

In the feature, I share more about our approach, growing the team, supporting children with additional needs, and how we’ve been able to grow the business without letting the admin take over.

When should you start preparing your child for their Maths or Physics GCSE? 📚

The answer is 'the earlier the better'.

If you’re noticing gaps in learning, lower confidence, reduced engagement or teacher reports showing that your child isn’t working at the expected level, it’s worth addressing those areas sooner rather than later.

Believe me, no child wants to start preparation when they're feeling under pressure.

If you set the foundations and close the gaps already appearing in Years 7, 8 or 9, then it could well be that they don't need any support when the GCSE years are upon them.

It doesn't mean your child needs years of tutoring, but waiting until the GCSE exams are approaching could add additional pressures.

First port of call is speaking to their school. What can they put in place to help your child reach their full potential? How can they help to support you support your child?

The goal is to identify the gaps, provide the right support, rebuild their confidence and step back once they’re ready.

If you still need help after this, then do look into tutoring or other support.

And while you 'can' start a few months before the exams, it’s important to manage expectations. Significant progress takes time, especially when there are foundational gaps to address.

Slowly but surely wins the race.🎯

What if we looked at neurodivergence through the lens of what a child can do?🔎

There are many people who struggled with traditional education, were misunderstood at school, or simply learned differently.

These people have gone on to do some pretty incredible things. ✨

And that’s why we wanted to share these people with you.

Not because being neurodivergent automatically makes someone successful.

And not because we should compare ourselves to famous people.

But because where a child is today does not tell us everything about what they are capable of tomorrow.

Their journey is not linear.

They might struggle with things that seem easy for everyone else.

They might shine in ways that aren't always measured in the classroom.

They might need to learn differently.

And sometimes, finding the thing that interests them, building their confidence and helping them recognise what they can do is where the magic starts. 💫

This is one of our key approaches, and I cannot begin to share with you how much joy this has brought our students (and us!) over the years. 💜

So if your child is struggling right now, try not to let their current difficulties become the story you tell yourself about their future.

Don't change the child. Change the environment. 🌱
