Smile 😁

It's World Smile Day and that big cheesy grin is an expression we know well.

Every day, we want to give children plenty of reasons to smile.

Whether it’s the proud grin after trying something new, laughing with friends, or the beaming smile that comes from doing something they absolutely love.

What does their day at LSC actually look like?

👋 08:00 – Every day you'll be greeted by our friendly site leads. Children will participate in fun welcome activities, make new friends and settle in for a busy day.

🤾‍♀️ 09:45 – Splitting into smaller groups, children will take part in the first activity of the day, swapping to a new activity after an hour with a snack break in between.

🥪 12:00 – We all have lunch together and once children have finished their food are welcomed to participate in child-led play.

🖌 13:00 – Back in our groups, children will participate in two new activities.

🏆 15:15 – Daily Celebration! Star of the Day certificates are handed out to children who have shown exemplary sportsmanship, willingness to try something new and great creativity.

🎯16:00 – Nerf Wars time! A quick-fire round of foam dart battles, or a final bounce on inflatables on Thursday before finishing the day with more child-led activities.

The daily structure remains the same but we can guarantee that two days are never identical.

Our half-term timetables are packed with variety.

What could the changes to PE & Sport Premium mean for your school?

The funding landscape is changing, and whilst the full picture continues to develop, there’s plenty schools can start thinking about now.
Because this isn’t just about funding.

It’s about PE quality, teacher workload, workforce capacity, PPA and making sure pupils continue to have access to high-quality PE, sport and physical activity.

We’ve put together a free Primary School Leader’s Guide to PE Premium Transition Planning to help schools:
→ Assess their current PE and PPA provision
→ Identify potential risks and areas of pressure
→ Review workforce capability and teacher workload
→ Consider financial sustainability
→ Start planning for the months and years ahead

The guide also includes a self-assessment scorecard and practical planning framework to help you work out where your school is now — and what to consider next.

How does the Free School Meals expansion affect your HAF eligibility?

With Free School Meals (FSM) expanding to all children in households receiving Universal Credit, we want to share an update on HAF and whether your child is eligible for a funded place.

⚠️ Your child will only be eligible for a HAF place if your household meets the Targeted Free School Meal criteria, including the £7,400 household income threshold.

While many more children will become eligible for FSM, this does not automatically mean they are eligible for HAF programmes.

There’s more to holiday clubs than sport! 👀

This October, our multi-activity holiday clubs are coming to Stockport, bringing even more variety to the school holidays.

Alongside the sports they already know and love, children can get creative, take on new challenges, experiment, build, make and get stuck into plenty of activities that give them different ways to play and have a brilliant day.

Because when it comes to decorating biscuits, there’s no such thing as a bad design.
A Tea Cake spider? 🕷️
A 100s & 1000s wizard? 🧙
A six-eyed grey monster? 👀👀👀👀👀👀

Whether they’re carefully planning their masterpiece or covering every inch of their Digestive in sweets, sprinkles and icing, every child can get creative, make their own spooky biscuit and take it home to enjoy.

Join us for spooky biscuit decorating on Thursday 29th October: https://hubs.li/Q04xYm8W0
