Second week rehearsals of our end of year college musical are fully underway and the vibes are HIGH!

It was a hot one today, but everyone absolutely smashed it. We’re so excited watching this show come together and seeing our college students bring so much energy, talent, and personality to every rehearsal.

Honestly, we can’t wait to see this on stage next Thursday!

Check out what our year 10 have been studying in English recently...

Our year 10 students Axis Performing Arts have been exploring Romeo and Juliet, focusing on Romeo's famous declaration that "Juliet is the sun."

Students analysed how Shakespeare uses this powerful metaphor to present Juliet as the centre of Romeo's world, bringing light, warmth and meaning to his life. We then extended our learning beyond the text by examining the scientific beliefs of Shakespeare's time.

We explored the contrast between the traditional geocentric model, which placed the Earth at the centre of the universe, and the emerging heliocentric theory, which argued that the Sun was at the centre. This led to some fantastic discussions about how Romeo's comparison of Juliet to the sun could be viewed as both romantic and subtly rebellious, challenging accepted ways of thinking just as new scientific ideas were beginning to challenge established beliefs.

By connecting literature, history and science, students developed a deeper understanding of Shakespeare's language and the world in which he was writing.

A brilliant week of critical thinking, discussion and cross-curricular learning from all our students.

AXIS Education Youth – Primary Pathway
(Ages 6–11)

Due to high demand from families of younger students, and the continued success of our Alternative Provision and flexible schooling at high school level, we’re excited to announce the next stage in the development of Axis…

From September 2026, AXIS Education Youth will be opening its Primary Pathway, offering one-day-a-week performing arts day training for young performers aged 6–11, alongside mainstream primary education.

❎How it works:
•4 days per week at your child’s current primary school
•1 full day per week at Axis
•Delivered through an agreed flexible schooling (day-release) arrangement
•Fully aligned with government guidance

Children remain on roll at their school, with authorised attendance, while accessing specialist creative training in a supportive, structured environment.

❎What happens at Axis?
Our Primary Pathway focuses on:
•Dance, drama & performance
•Confidence, creativity & self-expression
•Communication, teamwork & resilience
•Age-appropriate training that complements the national curriculum

All sessions are delivered using the same safeguarding, pastoral support and professional frameworks that underpin our wider provision.

This programme represents the next stage in our journey, extending a well-established and successful model to support primary-aged pupils through creative, flexible education pathways.
