What can happen in the first hour of opening the doors of Serenity Books? Many marvellous things, and not all of them photographed, but lived-in-the-moment things.
Saying hello people you know, “good to see you! How’s the Stockport shop doing? I’ve got some books, can I bring them here?” “Yes, of course! Thank you!”
Selling the hardback copy of the much adored Sam Neil’s Did I Ever Tell You This? (It’s been on the shelf since we opened and went to a very appreciative home!)
“Apologies, my daughter bought me a kindle…but as you can see, I’m still buying books from you, there’s nothing quite like the real thing! I’ll only take it on my cruise…” “Please don’t apologise, it’s lovely to see you!”
Finally locating ‘s proof Time Jump (bumped up to the top of must reads for me!) and — Jac, my fellow Aussie and friend bringing in Shapes, Barbecue and Chicken Crimpy flavour, a taste of home! Thank you Jac! X
Lots to browse for those of you popping into Romiley bookshop, and the day is young even now!
See you soon? 💜

Meet Mr Skelly, the internet’s favourite skeleton, now on the page for the first time.
In this beautifully hand-painted journey, Mr Skelly wanders through lush landscapes and hard terrain alike, moving through joy, loss, grief and love in search of home.
“How lucky am I, to have lost what I wanted, to find what I deserved.”
Gentle words paired with hand-painted imagery offer a softer light on what’s often overlooked. A quiet, comforting reminder that we’re all, in the end, made of the same bones.
Perfect for anyone who needs a little stillness and gratitude on the shelf this season.
Been looking forward to this one for a while, we have copies available in Romiley today. 💀🤍💜
