I'd Rather Be Outdoors offers Nordic Walking, Canicross / Canitrek 121s and Pilates Classes. Running regularly will improve the health of your heart and lungs.

Nordic Walking is a great way to get outdoors and start walking for fitness, it uses more muscles than normal walking so it burns more calories. Cani-cross and Cani-trek uses specially designed harnesses to help you enjoy running, walking and bonding with your dog. It may help to increase bone density in some people, which can help protect against bone diseases like osteoporosis.

It always brings mixed feelings when you dress for the forecast weather and don’t get it, I ended up removing my waterproofs halfway round today’s walk in Lyme Park NT. This is one of the reasons I always have that big rucksack with me even on shorter walks.

On a positive note we got to see quite a lot of the deer and there were great views over in to Manchester and beyond.

There’s a longer walk on Saturday starting near Grindleford at 9:30am

Some photos from our Tuesday walks last week, in the morning we were around Marple Bridge, climbing up to the canal then dropping down to the Roman Lakes before passing through The Garden House, Marple, making a small donation to the use of their footpath as we did so.

In the afternoon we were trying to avoid the sun by visiting some lesser seen areas of Vernon and Woodbank Park with Life Leisure Active Communities

Lovely morning walking in Lyme Park NT on Thursday morning, we didn't quite beat the heat, however we took the opportunity to use the cover of the woods where possible and even extended our walk slightly so we could head through the gardens, using the newly opened top gate and then into the Servants Hall for snacks, after stretching of course!

Great views and lovely company and chats along the way too.

We have four more walks before our summer break, Tues Marple Bridge, Thurs Lyme Park, Sat Three Edges Grindleford, Tues Marple Bridge.

Lovely walk on Tuesday morning we overran a little bit and ended up doing just over 7km!

It was a bit calmer distance wise on Tuesday afternoon where we welcomed four new Nordic Walkers to our Life Leisure Active Communities Nordic Class.

Thankfully we beat the rain, but it was close.

Our next walks are 9:30 Thursday in Lyme Park NT and

9:30 Saturday 8th August starting from TImperley Metrolink Station

Some great views and chat on our walk starting from Whaley Bridge Transhipment Building on Saturday 25th July. Taking in part of the Shallcross Inclines before heading down to The Goyt and climbing up through Taxal and onto Taxal Edge, we then took a detour to the planned route as the cows looked a little too inquisitive...................

Passing through Kettleshulme and passing Lumbhole Mill we made our way through some quite steep lanes on our way to woodland and Toddbrook Reservoir.

10.4km covered and 360M of ascent.

Our next long walk is a lot less hilly! On the 8th August we have Bridgewater Canal and Dunham Massey.
