We are pleased to share a new collaboration with the British Judo Association working together to encourage students and young people to pick up experience at events in 2026.

Upcoming events are as follows;

English Open, University of Wolverhampton (Walsall Campus)

Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd February 2026

British Schools Championships, English Institute of Sport, Sheffield

Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th March 2026

Roles include: Camera operating (streaming), Stewarding, Event Management and Coordination, Photography and much more.

We are delighted to be working with British Judo and can't wait to start working together on their hugely successful events.

This weekend was spent supporting the British Wrestling National Championships sponsored by Kixy. We put together the team over the last few weeks and it was great to finally see the event come to life on Friday and be in full swing on Saturday and Sunday.

The Volunteers did a fantastic job, Brian, Cheung and Ryan from The University of Salford Sports and Business Management Course and Jack Ford from the Sheffield Wednesday Community Employability Programme all got stuck into various roles in the set up and break down of the event. In addition, they worked with a large crowd, handled point scoring duties, technology set up and digital media content.

The event was 4 mats running at the same time, very fast paced with over 400 registered competitors over the weekend not to mention a large amount of spectators from clubs across the UK hoping to see their members progress to a worldwide stage one day. Credit to the British Wrestling team for putting the event together and the Birkdale Collective team look forward to assisting on future events.

Great to spend time with the Sports and Business Management students at The University of Salford helping them prepare for the busy world of networking within the sports sector.

The key message from all of us was - start building that network now, you never know where it may come in handy!

Earlier this month we recruited student volunteers for the Basketball Wales National Finals held at Bangor University. The students got to grips with many media related tasks as well as operations of the event itself. Looking forward to next year 🏀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A great visit to Bangor University yesterday, thanks to all those who came along to either of our sessions!

We are delighted to share that we are going to be helping out with the 2025 British Wrestling Championship sponsored by Kixy with Recruitment for the tournament.

The British Championships will be held at the National Squash Centre in Manchester over the weekend of 24th and 25th May. The Championship brings together the top amateur wrestlers from across the United Kingdom, showcasing the very best of British wrestling talent.

Volunteers will be needed on Friday 23rd-Sunday 25th May for a variety of shifts. Food, accommodation, beverages and event t-shirts will be provided for volunteers. Tasks include set up and packing up of the equipment, scoreboards, t-shirt distribution and more.
