This info graphic sums up the lived experience of an AuDHD person very well. I thought I'd share in case it is helpful to others.

Is your child aiming for grammar school next year?

Now is the perfect time to start 11+ tuition. Preparing early gives your child the confidence, skills, and exam techniques they’ll need to succeed—without the stress of last-minute cramming.

These sessions are designed to build strong foundations in English, maths, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning, all while keeping learning engaging and encouraging.

🚀 I believe in the Power of Small Group Tuition! 🚀
I'm passionate about helping young learners succeed, and I've seen first hand how beneficial small group tuition can be. It offers a great balance of focused learning and a supportive, encouraging atmosphere.
Here's why I think small group learning works so well:
* We Learn Together: Small groups let students learn from each other. They share ideas, ask questions, and work together, building an environment in which it feels safe to ask questions and learn from mistakes.
* Less Pressure, More Confidence: Learning in a small group (mine have a maximum of four students) is less intense than one-to-one tuition while still offering the benefits of individual attention from me.
* Fun and Support: Learning should be fun! Small groups allow for interaction and engagement with peers, making learning enjoyable. Learners feel comfortable asking questions.
If you'd like to know more about joining my small group tuition programme, or if you have a small group of students who would like to work together, please get in touch! Let's help your child reach their full potential 😊

✨ Friday night vibes ✨️

Reggie and I are snuggled up on the sofa, cosy and ready for The Traitors to start! But I can’t help reflecting on how incredibly proud I am of all my 11+ students. You’ve all worked SO hard preparing for your entrance exams, and now the offers are starting to roll in!

Your dedication and commitment—showing up to learn with me after a long day at school—is truly inspiring. Whatever path you choose, whether you accept your places at grammar school or decide on a different route, I know you’ll absolutely smash it. Here’s to the next step on your journey! 💫

🌟 Thank You for an Amazing Year! 🌟

To all my wonderful students and parents, thank you for making this academic year a success! Your dedication and hard work, especially after a long day at school for many of you, have truly shone through. As we head into the summer break, I wish you a fun and relaxing holiday! ☀️

To keep those brains buzzing over the break, here are a few ideas for activities:
✉️ Write postcards to friends and family – a great way to practice writing skills!
📚 Take on a summer reading challenge at your local library – explore new books and adventures!
💸 Give cash pocket money and let your kids work out the change – a practical way to enhance math skills!

Enjoy your summer, and see you all refreshed and ready for the new academic year! 🌼📖✏️

It's that time of year when many teachers turn more attention to booster classes and focused support for the May SATs (Standardised Assessment Tests), which happen informally in every year group and nationally in Y6.
My own Y6 child is certainly feeling the pressure to perform and we have anxious mornings where school feels a bit scary.
If you feel your child would benefit from some extra tuition to help them feel more confident in their mathematical abilities I have one evening and one weekend slot currently available.

Thought I’d share a little about this amazing CIC I’m working with!

Many of you know about the difficult road my family travelled recently with our lovely daughter experiencing an awful time at school and eventually leading to our decision to home educate. On this journey I learned that our young person is just one of thousands of children for whom the current education system doesn’t work. In fact, not only does it not work, but it actually causes harm.

I spent many hours researching, reading books, chatting to parents, attending fruitless and frustrating meetings at school and generally doing all that I could to support my child in the best possible way. During this time I came across inspiring people such as Dr.Naomi Fisher, Eliza Fricker, Spectrum Gaming and finally the fabulous Suzan Issa (Raising a Wild Child) who all taught me that there IS another way. A way of educating, mentoring and supporting our children to achieve their potential without causing emotional harm.

I am now proud to say that I am one of the new tutors working with The Wildheart Foundation. I hope to use the knowledge I have gained from my family’s personal journey to support other children in a way that allows them to thrive. We will follow a learning journey that starts with connection and a slow building of trust and mutual respect. Together we will explore interests and create a learning journey that centres around the young person and their interests.

If you would like to know more please visit https://wildheartfoundation.co.uk/ or email Rosalind at [email protected]

Finally I would like to add, being a teacher myself, I know it isn't down to the people who work within the system. It is the system itself. I work with an amazing team of passionate people at school who do their very best to support and provide for the children in our care. The system does work for many - but for those who it doesn't work for....there's another way!

I was watching a webinar on the Dyslexia UK website this week and I came across a handy tip for helping children proofread and edit their writing for spelling.

When the piece of work is completed, get the student to read it from the bottom up - or backwards. This way the incorrect spellings are more likely to be noticed because you need to focus more on each word whilst reading.

I think I might give this a try!

Reading aloud regularly to your child improves their vocabulary and comprehension as well as being a gorgeous family activity. I love this reading tent - not sure how long the torch batteries would last in my house though!
