Today I want to talk about Italian progressive tenses! 🇮🇹

👉 The progressive tense in Italian is used to describe an action that is currently happening, was happening or will be happening.

👉 The present progressive is formed by using the present tense of the verb "stare" (to stay) + the gerund of the main verb.
Example: Sto parlando (I am talking)

👉 The past progressive is formed by using the imperfect tense of the verb "stare" (to stay) + the gerund of the main verb.
Example: Stavo parlando (I was talking)

👉 The future progressive is formed by using the future tense of the verb "stare" (to stay) + the gerund of the main verb.
Example: Starò parlando (I will be talking)

👉 Remember to use the correct form of "stare" for each tense!

In short, we'll use the subject before the verb when we really want to EMPHASISE the subject of a sentence. Instead, we'll use the subject after the verb if we want to 'LOWER THE VOLUME' on the subject.

🇮🇹 Il soggetto va messo prima del verbo o dopo il verbo?
Utilizzeremo il soggetto prima del verbo quando vogliamo davvero ENFATIZZARE il soggetto di una frase. Invece useremo il soggetto dopo il verbo se vogliamo “ABBASSARE IL VOLUME” al soggetto.
