Ash's first piano lesson.
As an 11+ we still follow A's interests and curate learning around those.
Through Early Years and Primary A was taught using Montessori and Waldorf inspired principals, very much led by our child and nurtured learning through play and practical skills.

Ash is always creating, it's an absolute love of theirs at the moment. They create characters and draw them and I love when they are able to share ❤️ Here are a couple of new drawings from the past week.
Ash is still working away at their ParaSports and went to their first competition of the year last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Horse Riding and Vaulting is the Physical Education portion of their Home Ed.
Placed 2nd in their group and were very pleased with their achievement. :)

Learning today is taking a book they have started to read and have been inspired to draw some of the characters. Art & Literature. Creativity and Joy. You love to see it.
Blurb:
Emmeline Widget has never left Widget Manor – and that’s the way she likes it. But when her scientist parents mysteriously disappear, she finds herself being packed off on a ship to France, heading for a safe house in Paris. Onboard she is befriended by an urchin stowaway called Thing. But before she can reach her destination she is kidnapped by the sinister Dr Siegfried Bauer.
Dr Bauer is bound for the ice fields of Greenland to summon a legendary monster from the deep. And he isn’t the only one determined to unleash the creature. The Northwitch has laid claim to the beast, too.
Can Emmeline and Thing stop their fiendish plans and save the world?

Ash has been doing a lot of concept design work for characters lately, using different programs to bring their imagination to life. They have also been looking at animation and making avatars, it's been great to watch them explore programs and applications and learn how to use them.
These are all drawn with their phone! They have something special put away for their Christmas which will hopefully help more with their artwork.

A has been up to all sorts recently from frog and horse care and riding to comic con and costume making to art and learning to crochet and learning to play DnD. Busy busy and lots of great skills. A has a very practical mind, with ADHD and Autism, doing and seeing tasks makes learning stick as well as just being more fun. Very hands on approach and still encouraging interests and shaping learning around that.

Very recently L told us they no longer feel their name suits who they identify as anymore so have changed their name to one that does.
From here forward we will be using A and we start with another Equestrian success. A went to another huge competition yesterday, this time the Scottish Equestrian Vaulting Championships and walked away with 3rd place. That's a personal best for their Individual Freestyle and super pleased for them. First time out they placed 7th, at Nationals it was 5th and yesterday 3rd! They are working their way up with lots of dedicated practice, hard work and joy for what they get to do.

One of the most special moments I will cherish for the rest of my life was escorting our L all the way to Hartpury to compete at the RDA National Championships. They have worked so hard to get there, lessons weekly, sometimes more and despite their Peripheral Neuropathy kicking their butt, they smiled, had fun, competed in every sphere they qualified for, completed it and scored amazing scores and places from 1st to 8th in various disciplines through the weekend. James and I are both incredibly proud.
Since coming home they have trialled at our local Pony Club branch and are going to sign up to attend regularly, they have been asked to join the vaulting team permanently and they had a fun British Dressage Para Workshop they attended just at the weekend.
Lizzie has shown remarkable resilience, dedication, hard-work, teamwork skills, determination, professionalism and courage in all sphere's lately and achieved absolutely incredible milestones. 5 yrs ago feels like a surreal distant memory in these moments, watching them come alive and thrive.
Lizzie has also featured in our local paper twice recently, once just before Nationals and then just after as well and you can read both articles here:

They came, they saw, they conquered and smashed it at Nationals, came home with many wins and were delighted by their courage, determination, skill and professionalism throughout the 3 very hot and demanding days they were there. Congratulations to Lizzie on all their success at RDA National Champs 2025!!
