Why were we awarded Training Programme of the Year?

๐Ÿ’œ Wellbeing
YADP is the first Scottish national associate programme with safe practice and dancer wellbeing as the top priority. The programme encourages dancers to understand their growing bodies, and advocate for better practice within the wider dance world. As part of our commitment to wellbeing, dancers have termly physio sessions included in their fees!

๐Ÿ’™Opportunity
We are a non-selective programme, welcoming dancers age 10+ from across Scotland based purely on the desire to expand their training. Our Young Artists are given opportunities to create and perform in filmed projects, public site-specific work, and national showcases such as Go Dance and Destinations. In 2025 YADP was chosen as the Scottish representative at U.Dance National Festival at Sadlers Wells East, London, and our Young Artists have held medal places at Dance World Cup and Global Dance Open!

๐ŸคRespect
We pride ourselves on training dancers safely; expanding their horizons and encouraging exploration of the wider dance world, and we firmly believe the best way to achieve this is by modeling a healthy and respectful environment where dancers are fully welcome to be their authentic selves. Our Young Artists are regularly praised for their ability to work together, regardless of age, and commended for their resilient attitude!

๐Ÿ’œKnowledge
Our faculty are fully trained and highly qualified teachers first and foremost. Our founders hold Masters qualifications in Dance Science and Education and all teachers are registered with dance organisations and are required to continue training in current safe practices in order to ensure both physical and mental wellbeing in all classes. We hope to create a new generation of knowledgeable dancers who can continue to shape the dance world for the better!

๐Ÿ’™We can't wait to welcome new faces to our cohort this year and there are less than 2 weeks left to register! Follow the link in bio/stories to join us on Sunday 6th September. Registrations close on the 4th!!!

Training Programme of the Year!
๐Ÿ’œToday we've been sharing some words from our former Young Artists about all the aspects of YADP which helped us achieve the award of training programme of the year.
๐Ÿ’™Who better than our most recent leaver .bxnns! Emily trained with Bernadette Sloan then and Denny Dance Academy, and is one of our very first Young Artists. She completed her YADP journey this year and heads off to full time training at West College Scotland this term. Emily has always been an ambassador for our programme and we know with all the knowledge she has gained, she will shine bright!
๐Ÿค If you or your dancer would like to train in an environment that places physical and mental wellbeing at the absolute forefront, YADP is that place. Join us Sunday 6th September.

Training Programme of the Year!
๐Ÿ’œ Next up - a lovely walk down memory lane with our Sofia gatto-garzoni who began dancing with Karen Aitchison then North Star Dance Studio, Largs. Sofia's dance school and YADP training landed her a well earned spot at Scottish Ballet and RCS associates, and she is now heading to full time training at Central School of Ballet! Check out the video for our favourite memory of Sofia - learning 'pas de basque' in the Basque Country at Dance World Cup, San Sebastian!

๐Ÿ’™Hi, my name is Sofia and I was part of the YADP from 2020-2023 and soon I will be moving to London to start my vocational dance training at Central School of Ballet. One of the things I enjoyed about the YADP was the focus and attention on how movements feel within the body and how that related to our human anatomy, rather than how dancing looks.

๐ŸคI also would really recommend the programme to someone who would want to push themselves out of their comfort zone and try new styles of dance- my favourite was when we tried Indian dance! All of the teachers are extremely kind and nurturing and prioritise the welfare and happiness of the dancer which allows them to bloom and thrive in the dance studio and on stage.
