Our team in Tayside hosted a wonderful Family Fun Day for the children and parents we support 🌟

Alison from Eden’s Garden brought along some adorable animals for an amazing handling session, and families also enjoyed a mix of arts and crafts and sensory play – having lots of fun throughout the day!

There was even a super special surprise visit from McKellicones, who treated the families to the most delicious ice cream 🍦

Fun events like this remind us just how important community is for children we support, we’re so grateful to everyone who contributed to making this an unforgettable day out 💓

Karen recently celebrated 40 years of working at Aberlour!

Karen has supported countless children and young people in our disability service in Fife, and to celebrate her big milestone, her colleagues organised a wonderful party for her and said: “The team had a tea party to show our appreciation of our lovely colleague Karen, and to celebrate her 40 year ‘workiversary’ with Aberlour. What an achievement to have supported so many children and families over the years!”

The party had a very cool 1980’s-themed sensory tray for the young people to play with, and a delicious buffet treated everyone to some yummy food 😋

Happy ‘workiversary’ Karen and thank you for all your amazing work over the years!

This we've been exploring what this year's theme of "courage" means for our young people. Lorna, one of our assistant managers at Guardianship, shares what courage means to her and how the young people she supports demonstrate courage in their day-to-day lives.

When a new baby arrives, sometimes it can feel hard to get out of the house, look after yourself, or even just talk about how you’re feeling. Aberlour perinatal befrienders are there for mums and new babies during these challenges. Whether it’s going out for a coffee, offering a helping hand, or simply being there to listen.

Head to your YouTube channel to watch Caroline and Lyndsey’s befriending story.

Alongside partners we've written to the Education & Gaelic, Equalities & Human Rights and Social Justice Committees to call for a joint Scottish Parliamentary committee on ending child poverty.

This must be the Parliament where we prioritise ending child poverty above all else.

"Hi, my name is Sophiah. I am 8 years old and I have been enjoying going to Aberlour’s Rainbow Heart Cottage in Glenrothes since 2023.

"Some of my favourite things to do are go out on the bus to Asda and buy vegetables to make soup, listen to music and hear the adults sing songs, and join in with Arts and Crafts.

"I have been far and wide with the adults at Rainbow Heart Cottage. I’ve been to places like Deep-Sea world in North Queensferry and the Science Centre in Dundee! I have many friends when I stay for a short break or when I am out and about with the Aberlour team.

"The team at Rainbow Heart Cottage have helped me to learn to brush my teeth all on my own. Everyone is so proud of me.

"This picture is of me taken last year at a party we had to celebrate Aberlour’s 150th birthday. We had a silent disco which I loved.

"Thanks to the opportunities at Aberlour Children's Charity my world is big, which is great because I may be a small little girl, but I have a big personality!"

Thanks for sharing your story this Learning Disability Week Sophiah! We're committed to making sure every child and young person in Scotland has an equal chance.

There are a lot of misconceptions about refugees, asylum-seekers, and unaccompanied young people. We recently spoke to our team at Guardianship to answer some common questions 🌟

This , come behind the scenes with us to meet our Guardianship team and get to know what they do to support asylum-seekers and refugees! 👉

This Refugee Week, we're sharing Yusuf's story.

Yusuf's story is one of courage. His home country wasn't safe and he left behind his family and everything he knew, travelling far from home, facing the unknown, to find safety in Scotland.

There are many young people who face journeys just like Yusuf's. Every year, young unaccompanied asylum seekers arrive here having shown a bravery most of us will never be asked to find.

Our Guardianship Scotland service is here to make sure every young person who arrives has someone in their corner from day one. Scottish Refugee Council
