These fantastic young people have flourished during their time at SGS and we wish them all the best with the next steps they are taking!

*Ava and her very proud Mum were celebrating today- Ava has received the grades needed to take the next step on her journey to becoming a paramedic. Ava has worked her way up the ranks as a cadet with St John Ambulance while studying for her GCSEs.

*Theo was all smiles after finding out he had achieved 8 and 9s in 9 subjects.

*Lizzie and Alisha were pleased with their results and are excited to begin their college studies in Childcare.

*Tao, Lily and Reuben all achieved an impressive set of results, at grades A*, A and B.

GCSE Results Day 2026

We are so proud of the students celebrating some excellent GCSE results today!

The Class of 2026 have demonstrated great resilience, commitment and determination during their time at SGS.

*Huge congratulations to Ewan, who achieved a 'clean sweep' of Grade 9s (the highest grade possible) in all subjects. He will be going on to study Maths, further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at SGS Sixth Form. Nationally, only 0.2% of students achieve all Grade 9s!

*Rosie achieved 7 grade 9s and 4 grade 8s as well as a grade 7 in Music, which she completed in Year 10.

*Edward and Lucas, both entered for 11 GCSEs in year 11, both achieved 8 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and a grade 7.

*Casper achieved a 9 in Art, Science, English Language, English Literature, Maths, History, Performing Arts and RE, as well as an 8 in French.

*Sonia, who joined SGS from Ukraine in Year 8, achieved a 9 in Russian, as well as grade 8s in Business Studies, English Literature, Food Prep, Maths, Psychology and RE as well as grades 7 in Science, English Language and Further Maths.

Students did particularly well in English Literature, Art and Design, Photography and Biology.

Headteacher Aidan Timmons said: "It really has been another vintage year for us with so many incredible stories both individual and collective. We are extremely proud of our students and their hugely deserved achievements."

Some more happy (and relieved!) faces from A Level Results Day...

-Evie (right in first pic) was thrilled with her Distinction * in Health and Social Care and a Double Distinction in Sports Studies.

-Friends Fleur, Jake and Layla were pleased with their strong sets of results, achieving three As and 4Bs and 2Cs between them. Fleur will study Applied Medical Science at Swansea University and Jake and Layla will continue with their art studies at Brighton MET.

-A Level P.E. students Chloe, Brooke, Samuel, and Max are pictured with Head of PE Dan Hegarty. Chloe is going to study to be a paediatric nurse, Brooke will study physiotherapy, Samuel has secured an apprenticeship and Max will go to university to study Sports Science.

-Ronnie (pictured with his Mum) secured the Distinction in Forensic Investigation he needed to study for a Forensics degree.

Congratulations to Lola (left) and Jasmine who excelled in their Sports Studies diplomas, achieving a Double Distinction * and Double Distinction respectively.

Lola, who plays tennis at a county, national and international level is off to Barcelona for a year, to focus on the sport, before returning to study at university next year.

Jasmine will be studying for further qualifications while in full time employment.

Well done also to Finn who achieved a Double Distinction* in Sports Studies and a B in Business Studies. He plans to take a Gap Year before applying to Loughborough University to study Business.

Overall students studying the Sports Studies Diploma at SGS have continued to excel for a third consecutive year.

Congratulations to our Sixth Formers who are celebrating today after achieving excellent A Level and vocational qualification results!
These hard working young people have demonstrated commitment, resilience and determination to secure places at their chosen universities, further education courses, apprenticeships and employment.

The proportion of students achieving A*- C grades has increased significantly from last year, as have student pass rates. Students performed particularly strongly in Art and Design, Photography, History and English Language.

Among the many individual successes are:

-Zakk, who achieved 2 A*s in Art and Photography as well as an A in History and will go on to do an Art Foundation course at MET College.

-Maddy, who achieved 3 A grades in Photography, English and Sociology and will study English and Creative writing at the University of Sussex.

-Esme, who achieved a two A grades in Art and English and a B in Environmental Science.

-Tosan thrived as Head Girl of Boarding alongside her studies and achieved 3 A grades in Computer Science, Economics and Psychology; she will study Information Technology for Business at Loughborough University.

-Boarder Emily achieved an A* in Maths, A in Further Maths, A in Chemistry and B in Biology and will now read Natural Sciences at University College London.

Whatever your results, remember they're just one step on your journey and there are always opportunities ahead. We are here to support and guide you every step of the way!

SGS LION'S PRIDE

Today we announced the first recipient of the Lion’s Pride Award 2026, which provides recognition for one student who has epitomised the schools ethos, demonstrating our Character values of Growth Mindset, Grit, Curiosity, Kindness, Gratitude, Self control with oneself and others despite all of the challenges that life can throw. A huge well done to Gracie who is the first name on our new SGS Lion’s Pride Shield designed and made by Mr Simmonds. Well done Gracie!
