Our next Museum Tea Time Talk July 15th
What’s being colonised actually like?
Young and conquered: 1066 – 1086

Young people’s lives in Steyning - from Conquest to Domesday.

In late Saxon times, Steyning – with less than 1000 people - was a major Sussex town, with a special status with both Crown and Church. At that time only 16 yr-olds+ were called to arms, so anyone under that age would have been still in Steyning when the Normans invaded.

A museum volunteer, sociologist by training, and local history enthusiast, Barbara Chandler invites you to travel back in time and explore the changes that the Normans would have brought to life in this community.

Lectures start 5.15pm
Tickets £5 from museum or at the door and include refreshments..
Refreshments from 4.15pm
Under 19 and students FREE
