WEATHER UPDATE ππ₯΅
As you are all probably aware, a weather warning has been issued in our region for most of this upcoming week by the Met Office.
We wanted to reassure you that preschool will be open as usual and we will be taking steps to keep children as cool and comfortable as possible during this time. Please dress your children in light coloured, loose clothing and ensure you pack plenty of extras for changes after water play. Although children have access to our water dispensers at all times, you are welcome to send a bottle of water in with them that we can keep refilling also.
Steps we will be taking at preschool include:
- Keeping children indoors during peak hours
- Suncream and hats outdoors (please apply suncream at home before attending preschool)
- Lots of ice and water play
- Keeping the room as well ventilated as possible
- Ensuring children remain hydrated with plenty of fluids.
We will monitor the situation and keep a close eye on the children in our care. Children cannot control their body temperature as efficiently as adults during hot weather so can be at risk of ill-health from heat. We may ask you to come and collect your child if they develop signs of heat-stoke or heat stress.
For anyone choosing to keep children home as we have seen in previous heat waves, please remember to pop us a message by 8:30am to inform us of their absence.
Thank you
