Spark English UK: Writing & Speaking Success Creative and essay writing, speaking, and debate classes for children ages 7–15. International curriculum. Focus on thinking, confidence, and real English use.

Our online classes build strong communication, reasoning skills, and independent learners. Spark English UK was founded by Joy Portelli (Kru Joy), a Thai-British teacher. Initially, it operated as a learning center in Pattaya, Thailand, providing English classes to the local community where she grew up. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it became impossible to continue offering in-person supp

ort to these children. In mid-2021, she transitioned to teaching English classes online, serving both Thai EFL learners and English-speaking children. As the demand for affordable classes grew, Spark English evolved into an online homeschool catering to children studying under Thai national and international curricula. Joy’s passion lies in providing quality educational opportunities to children from low- to middle-income backgrounds. To support families during this challenging period, many children received discounted or free classes.

This week in our academic and essay writing class, your child wrote an opinion essay on this question.

Should influencers take responsibility for spreading incorrect information?

Students chose which side to argue. I did not tell them which side was right or wrong.

They explained their opinions with clear supporting reasons. They also had to stay realistic and fair to the other side.

In this class, students practice thinking, reasoning, and academic writing at the same time.

This is a speaking class for children aged 7–8.
We are opening a new group. Two students are currently enrolled.

Classes run once a week.
Each session is 40 minutes.
Maximum of 5 students per group.

This class suits children who can communicate and read in English but want to improve how they speak, share opinions, and use a wider range of vocabulary. It also builds a foundation for public speaking.

Class times
Sunday 10.20–11.00
or
Monday 17.25–18.05

If your child is interested in speech and debate but is not ready yet in language level or general knowledge, this speaking class is a good preparation. Students give short speeches of under one minute and practise basic reasoning. This helps them express ideas and needs more clearly.

This class works well for both shy children and very talkative children who tend to go off topic.

We do not focus on grammar or strict accuracy. We focus on using English clearly for communication. If a child uses the wrong word, the teacher corrects it.

🧠 Each writing task trains you to think clearly and logically.
You learn to use higher level English with confidence.
You also prepare for future studies such as IGCSE and IELTS.

📚 Academic writing is the type of writing you use in school and university.
Learn how to explain ideas, opinions, and information in a clear and structured way. In this course, you practise many types of writing, including descriptive, expository, persuasive, argumentative, compare and contrast, and summarising and paraphrasing texts.

💻 Classes are live and online on Zoom.
Each class is 55 minutes.
Maximum of 6 students per group.
