It’s cool to be KIND 🫶🏼💚

At The Learning Zone we always aim to promote kindness with the children during their play. We set out clear guidelines for the children to help them understand that others have feelings and respecting each other’s voice.

We try and implement ways to encourage them to play together and/or alongside each other, including sharing.

Our staff always strive to be good role models, by making sure that we talk about making good choices, feelings and actions. We always praise children for making good choices 🫶🏼

Please can we ask that our families encourage kindness outside of the Nursery 💚 thank you for your partnership 🤝

Learning Zone Preschool – Arrival Reminders for returning to nursery 🌈

To help our children settle smoothly and build independence, please see the arrival routines below:

🧸 Jelly Tots (Netty, Sarah & Sophie)
Parents/carers, please bring your child into the room and help them find their name on the table.

🍬 Jelly Beans (Janet & Lisa)
We encourage children to:
• Remove and hang up their own coats on the lower pegs of the blue rack
• Place their bags in the baskets below
• Walk down independently to find their name (unless they are feeling distressed)

These small steps help promote independence and school readiness 💛

Checklist for Parents: Preparing Your Preschooler for Nursery ✅

Starting nursery is a big milestone! Here’s a quick guide to help make the transition smoother for both you and your little one:

👕 Clothing
• Label all clothes, shoes, and bags.
• Pack a change of clothes (accidents happen!).
• Choose comfortable, easy-to-wear outfits and quick fasten shoes.

🎒 Essentials to Pack
• Water bottle.
• Healthy snack 🍎
• Extra nappies/pull-ups & wipes (if needed).
• Sunhat/jumper/coat depending on the weather.

💡 Preparation at Home
• Talk about nursery positively.
• Practice self-help skills (washing hands, using the toilet, tidying up).
• Establish a consistent bedtime and morning routine.

🤝 For Parents
• Share any allergies, medical needs, or routines with teachers.
• Be prepared for some tears (it’s all normal don’t worry).
• Say a quick, cheerful goodbye to build confidence.

✔️ Shoes/Wellies
