Today we had a young man that dropped a cup of water on the floor while filling it. He stepped back and looked anxious, he apologised immediately. I leant over and reassured him its all good and reminded him to refil his cup while I got some towel.

No drama, no fuss, no consequences for an accident, just care! No one wants to make a mistake and be told off for an accident. Some young people stop trying things through fear of being told off.

There is a big difference between being safe and feeling safe and at Paul Lavery Support we want all our young people, staff and visitors to feel safe with us! 💚💚

💚 PLS cooking session 💚

Our fantastic young man and his amazing mentor Justine made home made sausage rolls and scotch eggs today. I have only ever seen them hand made on TV.

Observing H&S at all times, cleaned as they went and mopped the floor, you can't ask for much more!!

He now has 2 containers worth of food for his familly to enjoy.

It was amazing watching them cook together, listening to the little chats while I was doing other things. Pure magic!!

💚 Sharing the love 💚

Today we donated 2.5 boxes of UNITED ODDSOCKS LIMITED socks.

We took over their office in Hexton and they very kindly left us some of their stock to pass out to young people we work with.

Today we paid it forward and donated this lot to Ardeley Primary School.

As they are a rural School they encourage their kids to play outside if safe to do so and use Church Farm, Ardeley for their forest school sessions, so we know these will come in handy!!

💚🥳 Our first cooking session 🥳💚

One of our amazing mentors Justine spoke this young man and he said he wanted to learn to cook. As soon as our new building in Hexton was ready he was excited to get going.

He sat a food hygiene course and today marks the first day the kitchen has been used by a young person.

He listened patiently while we went over the kitchen safety rules, he budgeted and purchased his food as well as followed all safety and hygiene rules. He made cajun chicken and home made chips.

His food was amazing. Its a proud moment that the year long journey has arrived. It was fantastic watching him learn and importantly he helped wash up his stuff!!

What a day 💚💚

💚 Making more work for myself 😭 💚

The builder has an area at the other end so he can do the deck and finish fencing. Agreement was he stayed that end to keep my side clean for visitors and photos.

Shame I forgot and put 13 muddy foot steps all over my 4 times hoovered carpet 😭🤣😭🤣

Note to self: find emergency crocs and keep them by the door 👀

💚🥳 10th anniversary messages 🥳💚

Our main video was over 10 minutes and my videographer Luke Perera had to make some tough choices to leave some amazing content out.

A close friend and colleague Leeroy Williams took time out of his day to send the message below.

Last week and the beginning of this week iv been cleaning, sorting and planning.

I won't ask anyone to do anything im not prepared to do.

Dusty builder toilet now cleaned and maybe not eat your lunch off of but its certainly not as minging as it was!!!

A classroom has been finished, cleaned and has furniture! Signs and soft touches to come but another milestone achieved!!

💚🔥 PLS Hexton update 🔥💚

I know my videography skills aren't as good as Luke Perera but I had to do a quick video as the corex is off the sides and the paintbrushes and other rubbish is now out and it looks amazing.

Moving into our 10th year of running we are always looking to do more and be better for our young people.

This is another step towards that.

We are now taking referrals for our new site which has secure classes where we can deliver functional skills english & maths, a kitchen to learn basic cooking and hygiene skills, a small group area for board games and discussions as well as so much more.
