Year 5 ditched the classroom last week to enjoy some readers theatre in the shade. We read extracts from our Guided Reading book, “The Song From Somewhere Else” using the verbal prompts in the narrative to understand how to recount the lines. There were some excellent readings, and we all enjoyed the very gentle breeze under the trees!

On Wednesday, Year 2 had a food Design and Technology day. We enjoyed learning about kitchen utensils and thought about our safety when using them. We discussed the best way to use each utensil and why some are best suited for chopping, grating or spreading. Then we designed our own healthy wrap, made it, and enjoyed eating it!

Year 2 Celebrates Fairlands' 75th Anniversary! Year 2 had a wonderful time celebrating Fairlands' 75th Anniversary! We travelled back to the 1990s and discussed how classrooms were different from today. We compared blackboards with smartboards, looked at how tables were arranged, and talked about how televisions have changed over the years. We also got creative by designing our own Fairlands anniversary logos before joining the rest of the school on the field for a range of fun physical activities. It was a fantastic day of learning, creativity and celebration. Happy 75th Birthday, Fairlands!

This Wednesday we had a fun activity packed day in Year 1. We spent the day celebrating the 75th anniversary of Fairlands school. First, we learnt about the different decades from 75 years ago up until now. We particularly enjoyed listening to the different music and dancing along to it!
We also spent time looking at pictures of the school over the years and spotting the differences between then and now. We thought that the items of clothing they wore were a bit strange!
We also completed art activities with the number 75, have a look at some of our collages we created. Finally, we went to the upper field to play some games from over the years and sang a happy birthday to Fairlands.

On Tuesday, the Nursery children went on their first school trip to Standalone Farm. We had a wonderful time and were so proud of the children’s excellent behaviour and listening skills while we were there! We loved seeing the animals, testing our physical skills in the play area and exploring the pumps and water channels in the water play area.
