If your looking for something to occupy the kids, the Emergency Services are hosting a Community Celebration Day in 2nd August in Falkirk Town Centre (1000 to 1600).

The SSVP society at St Bernadette’s has funds available to help families within our parish area. Funds are available to purchase food or electricity cards for families but we would also like to offer support to families buying school uniforms and shoes. The SSVP mobile number is 07568 354828 or alternatively you can contact me (Angela Green) directly on 07803 926332. All enquiries are confidential.
Please do get in touch if we can help in anyway as the funds are there to be used.
Once the school opens in August we are hoping to be able to donate some items such as polo shirts, socks, tights etc to the school uniform swap shop.

‘Change to School Transport’ proposal.

This was discussed at tonight’s PC meeting, so I can now provide an update on this.

This matter was due to be discussed at the Children & Young People Executive Committee (a subcommittee of the Council) on 31 May.

Before this could happen, several members tabled an amendment that the matter be referred to a full Council meeting for the decision on the way ahead (reflecting how contentious this issue is). This amendment was approved.

It was also agreed that further information was needed on several areas to support the Council in its deliberations (e.g. impact upon children attending breakfast clubs, impact study on expected increase in local traffic).

It will take several months to source and prepare the additional information, therefore it is likely to be September at the earliest before this matter is taken to a full Council meeting.

In the meantime, there will be no change to the current transport arrangements.
