We love mark making in the garden! Here is a lovely example of how a simple invitation to paint vertically, naturally extended to a larger space on the ground and then again by using gross motor skills to make marks on a bigger scale.

The children explored the various tracks and creations they could make with whatever they could find in the garden, sticks, wheelbarrows, lego and scooters!

We had a wonderful time in the frosty sunshine!

What a wonderful term we have had. So many lovely opportunities to play, learn, explore and create, and all of our new Badgers have settled in so well. We cant wait to see what we all get up together next term!

The ever-changing British weather has provided us with some glorious sunshine one minute and puddle splashing-mud kitchen play the next.
There is no such thing as bad weather ☔️🌤

Perhaps you have a little one who has just started at an early years setting, childminder or school and you have noticed that after a busy day they are struggling with their emotions at pick up times.

This is called restraint collapse and is perfectly normal as they are learning to deal with all the new experiences they have had during the day. It shows that you are their safe place - that they feel they can figure everything out with you.

Take a moment to think about all the new things they have had to learn, the times they have had to cope with new feelings and emotions, to share resources and adult attention - it's no wonder that all these feelings that have been kept inside can spill out once they are with you.

To try to help give them the time and space they need, greet them with enthusiasm and rather than questioning them about what they have been up to, encourage them to share their day by talking about what you have been doing.

Perhaps they need some quiet time or a run in the park - you know your little one best.

Listen and empathise with them, acknowledging and naming their feelings. Remember that as a parent/carer we can give them the time, space and love they need.

What a wonderful first week back we have had at Badgers Bridge Nursery and Forest School. We have been super busy introducing our new babies, as well as some older children to our setting, and they have all taken so well to their new environment, exploring all we have to offer. We are very proud of them all, and their families!
Look at these busy hands! Building, scooping, feeling, sprinkling, stirring, pouring.
We have a few spaces for over 2s currently, which will be snapped up quickly, so get in touch ASAP! Set in the beautiful countryside of Stelling Minnis, the opportunities for natural inspiration are endless.

We're finally able to share some exciting news with you all... Badgers on the Minnis is officially OPEN.

Our new early years provision, suitable from 12 months old, based on the grounds of Stelling Minnis Primary school. Our last few spaces for September are filling quickly, so book in a viewing ASAP by emailing me at [email protected]
