We’re delighted to be offering a small range of after-school clubs this term, led by members of our wonderful staff who have volunteered their time to provide exciting opportunities beyond the classroom.

Our clubs are a great way for children to try something new, discover interests, build confidence, develop friendships and have fun!

📅 Clubs run: Week commencing Monday 21st September to week commencing Monday 30th November
🍂 There will be a one-week break during the week commencing 19th October due to Parents’ Evenings.
💷 £10 per club for 10 sessions (£1 per session), payable via ParentPay.

⏰ Deadline: Friday 11th September
📣 Families will be notified of club allocations by Tuesday 15th September.

As places are limited, we will do our very best to ensure that every child has the opportunity to take part in at least one club during the academic year. If your child isn't allocated a place this term, we will endeavour to offer them a place during the Spring or Summer Term.

Welcome Back!

It has been so lovely having our children back in school today! They’ve been busy exploring their new classroom environments, learning routines, getting to know their new adults and completing some fantastic writing tasks.

And yes… some classes have already designed their Christmas cards for this year! 🎄😂 You did read that correctly!

A special mention also goes to Mr Roberts for his handywork creating our fantastic new values boards in the school hall. We think they look brilliant! 💙

Today marks the end of an era for our Year 6s. What a special class they have been!

They've seen it all during their time at Steeple Claydon - from lockdown learning to an incredible leavers' party and everything in between. They have grown into a fantastic group of young people and we know they will go on to achieve amazing things. We are so excited to see what the future holds for each and every one of them.

And what better way to finish their final day than with a water fight on the school field, followed by a very wet twist on Pass the Parcel!

Year 6, it's been an absolute pleasure. Thank you for the memories, the laughter and for being such a wonderful part of our school community. Once a Steeple Star, always a Steeple Star. ⭐

Last week, we celebrated an incredible STEM Week at Steeple Claydon School! 🔬⚙️🌱

Alongside a range of exciting STEM activities organised in school, we were fortunate to welcome some fantastic visitors who helped bring science, technology, engineering and maths to life.

☀️ Gawcott Solar Farm visited to talk to children about renewable energy and sustainability.
🐛 Our younger learners enjoyed Bug Farm visits, with Year 1 exploring habitats and discovering more about the fascinating world of minibeasts.
💻 We welcomed parents into school to share their expertise on a variety of STEM-related careers and topics, including computer programming. Children also investigated materials and forces through hands-on activities and problem-solving challenges.

The week was packed with curiosity and discovery and it was wonderful to see our children asking questions, exploring new ideas and developing their STEM skills.

What a fantastic way to finish the year for our Young Carers! 🌟

With the support of S4A, our young carers enjoyed an action-packed sporty session in the hall. From testing their aim with archery and axe throwing to taking part in a range of exciting activities, there were smiles, laughter and plenty of friendly competition throughout the afternoon.

A huge thank you to S4A for helping us celebrate the incredible resilience, kindness and dedication shown by our Young Carers all year.

Last week, Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Hazard Alley, where they learned valuable life skills to help keep themselves and others safe in the community.

The children took part in interactive scenarios focused on water safety, road safety, and even had the opportunity to make a call to the emergency services (thankfully, only to an actor!). They listened carefully and showed great maturity throughout the day.

They had a brilliant time and we are incredibly proud of how engaged and responsible the children were.

Year 5 have been putting their English skills to work while researching gorillas as part of their learning linked to King Kong! 🦍📚

The children explored facts about gorillas and considered an important question: Is it ethical for gorillas to live in zoos? They used their research to develop arguments and think critically about animal welfare and conservation.

We were so impressed with the thoughtful discussions and mature viewpoints shared by the children throughout the lesson!

Year 3 have been busy learning all about Viking longships in their D.T. lessons! After exploring how these incredible boats were designed and used by the Vikings, the children put their new knowledge into practice by creating their own longships out of cardboard.

The children thoroughly enjoyed this hands-on activity and showed great creativity and teamwork throughout. Well done, Year 3 – your Viking ships look fantastic!

Today, our Year 6 children performed their Peter Pan dress rehearsal to the rest of the school and they were absolutely fantastic. From the acting and singing to the confidence and energy on stage, you could really see just how hard they have worked over the past few weeks.

The entire cast should be incredibly proud of themselves. They entertained the audience from start to finish! Absolute legends! 👏

We can't wait for parents and carers to see the full production on Tuesday and Wednesday. You're in for a treat! ✨

Year 2 enjoyed a lovely afternoon in our Forest School area this week, keeping cool in the shade while spending some time reading, relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. 📚🌳☀️
