A huge well done to our Explore Pathway colleagues on achieving their SchemaPlay Bronze and Silver Accreditation.

This accreditation involved specialist training, followed by a project where staff observed play schemas within the learning environment and produced a detailed case study based on their findings. Their work demonstrated how understanding children's play patterns can be used to enhance learning, engagement and development.

We are incredibly proud of the commitment, professionalism and enthusiasm our team has shown throughout the process. Their dedication to continually developing their practice helps ensure that every learner receives the very best opportunities to learn through meaningful, purposeful play.

What a fantastic day at Rainbow Fest!

It was wonderful to see our learners, families, colleagues and the wider community come together for a day full of fun, laughter and celebration. From the activities and entertainment to the smiles on everyone's faces, Rainbow Fest was a brilliant reminder of the strength and spirit of our West SILC community!

A special thank you to the talented learners from The Farnley Academy , whose wonderful performances helped make the day so memorable.

Thank you as well to everyone who helped organise the event, volunteered their time, donated, performed or came along to support us. Your generosity and enthusiasm made the day such a success.

West SILC Summer Prom 2026 was a wonderful evening of celebration, laughter and unforgettable memories as we came together from all our pathways to recognise another fantastic year.

As we say goodbye to our leavers, we wish every one of you every success and happiness for the future. We are incredibly proud of all you have achieved and can't wait to see where your next adventures take you.

The evening was a chance to celebrate the achievements of all our learners throughout the year, and none of it would have been possible without the dedication of our amazing colleagues and the unwavering support of our families. Thank you for helping to make this year, and this special event, such a memorable one.

Here's to celebrating every success, cherishing the memories we've made together, and looking forward to an exciting future for all.

🏅 Sports Week 🎉

Learners from all pathways took part in activities across a number of our sites, making it a truly inclusive whole-school celebration.

From penalty shoot-outs, dodgeball, boxing and multi-sports, to dancing with the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, meeting Cop Cat, the Leeds United mascot, and enjoying adapted cycling sessions with Get Cycling CIC , there really was something for everyone.

To make the week even more special, we were delighted to receive an award at the Leeds School Sports Awards – a fantastic recognition of our commitment to providing inclusive sporting opportunities for all of our learners. 🏆

A huge thank you to all of our amazing staff, families and partner organisations who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm to make Sports Week such a memorable success across West SILC.

Most importantly, well done to all of our learners for getting involved, trying new activities and making the most of every opportunity. You were all amazing! 💜💚

We are so proud of the learners from our Engage pathway, who have been doing some amazing work with Jessie's Fund . 🎶

They have shown fantastic creativity, and confidence while exploring music and expressing themselves in new ways. It has been wonderful to see everyone getting involved, trying something different and supporting each other as part of making this video.

A huge thank you to Jessie’s Fund for providing such a positive and inspiring experience for our learners. It's a great charity go and check them out!
