Friendships help children feel safe and happy at school.
Being with others, sharing and taking turns with toys, and talking to children about how they are feeling and why makes a big difference at school.
This week, talk about kind behaviours like sharing, turn-taking, and using friendly words. Practise saying “hello” or starting conversations in play – it builds confidence.

Getting Ready – Growing Independence!
Can your child:
• Take part in imaginative play (e.g. role play)?
• Draw, paint, colour and stick?
• Share story books with caregivers, look at pictures and talk about the characters?
• Explore the world around them (e.g. looking closely at the natural world or playing safely with objects at home)?
Sharing books at home builds language and imagination.
This week, cuddle up with a favourite story, talk about what might happen next, or retell it in your own words. Encourage your child to choose books and tell you the story using the pictures!

Getting Ready – Growing Independence!
Can your child independently:
• Put on / take off their coat and shoes?
• Get dressed with little help, e.g. after using the toilet or doing PE?
Mastering simple skills build confidence and make school feel less overwhelming.
This week, practise getting dressed together – turning clothes the right way round is a great challenge!

🌍🏃♀️🏃♂️ Beamish Primary School is racing around the world! 🏃♂️🏃♀️🌍
Our pupils have been running, walking and moving their way around the globe alongside the other schools in our trust, all while raising money for Cancer Research UK. 💜
