Before Christmas, we invited over 25 employers from a range of industries including Mears, Lower Thames Crossing, Border Force, the NHS, the London Stock Exchange, the UK Home Office and London Underground to St Clere's to take part in our Mock Interview Day with our Year 11 students. This day provides an invaluable experience for our Year 11 students to be interviewed by employers and have their CVs reviewed by them. This gives them practice of going through an interview process with a real business before they do the real thing later this year with local employers, apprenticeship providers, Sixth Forms and Colleges. The feedback that we received from both guests and our students has been amazing - many of our students enjoyed the experience so much they actively volunteered to take part in more than one interview!

On Friday, a group of our Y11 students had the fantastic opportunity to attend a hands‑on taster event at South Essex College. The day gave them real insight into the world of electrical installation and plumbing, with students getting stuck into practical activities and discovering what these skilled trades involve.

This experience was a brilliant way for them to explore whether a vocational route might be the right fit when they take their next steps in September. It was great to see their confidence grow as they tried new techniques, asked questions, and learned directly from industry‑experienced staff.

A huge thank you to South Essex College of Further and Higher Education for hosting such an inspiring and informative session. We’re excited to see where these experiences lead our students next!

We are incredibly proud of Ryan Martin, one of our Year 10 students, who recently completed an inspiring work experience placement with British Airways.

Ryan has a clear ambition to become an Aerospace Engineer, and this placement offered him a valuable opportunity to experience the industry first‑hand. From seeing how aircraft systems are maintained to observing engineering teams in action, Ryan gained meaningful insights into what a future career in aerospace could look like.

Experiences like this are vital in helping our students make informed decisions about their next steps, and Ryan has shown fantastic motivation and enthusiasm throughout.
A huge thank you to British Airways for supporting young talent and giving Ryan such an exciting glimpse into the world of aviation engineering.
