A very important meeting took place this morning. Our first pre school committee meeting 📅
We are thrilled to share a wonderful new initiative starting in our woodland room
This week, we have officially selected a small group of our pre-school children to form our very first Children’s Committee.
This group will change regularly so that every child has the chance to take part throughout the year.
❓ What is the Children's Committee?
The committee is a "mini-council" where our children get to meet, share ideas, and make real choices about their pre-school. They will be helping us vote on new toys, choose themes for dress-up days, help plan healthy snack menus, and act as helper ambassadors in the classroom.
💡 Why is "The Children’s Voice" So Important?
Listening to what our children have to say is at the very heart of early years education. Gathering the "children's voice" is incredibly important for their development because it:
Builds Confidence: Knowing their ideas are listened to teaches children that their thoughts have real value.
Teaches Early Democracy: Voting on choices helps them understand fairness, cooperation, and how group decisions are made.
Encourages Communication: Expressing their likes, dislikes, and creative ideas helps grow their vocabulary and speech skills.
Promotes Independence: Giving children a say in their environment makes them feel proud, responsible, and excited to learn.
🌟 What Happens Next?
Our first selected committee members have received their special helper badges this morning. We keep our meetings very short (5 to 10 minutes), highly visual, and lots of fun.
We can't wait to see the amazing ideas our children bring to the table and to reflect these in the experiences we offer.
