✨ Tiny hands and feet exploring textures this week ✨

One of the amazing things we explored at our Baby Sensory classes this week was the wonderful world of textures!

Babies are naturally curious about how different materials feel, and introducing this to play gives them the opportunity to investigate, compare and concentrate on new sensations.

🌟 Some of our materials this week were…

Lamb’s wool fleece

Babies explored how it’s soft, natural fibres can feel cosy and comforting and it helps to regulate temperature by trapping warm air and absorbing moisture.

Silk and satin

Silk is particularly fantastic for babies with sensitive skin. It’s smooth, cool and soft texture is gentle against the skin and it’s also a lovely material for babies to explore as it offers a silky sensation too!

💚 These simple sensory experiences are easily replicated at home and encourage curiosity, focus and early learning!

Another week of wonderful discoveries at Baby Sensory Stamford! 🌟💚

🤩 OUR TERM STARTS TOMORROW 🤩

I am honestly SO excited to get started with our Autumn Term! There are so many exciting things happening, and I just love this time of year too 🥰🍂

I’ve also never been so happy to have been influenced to buy something as much as my spot wash… I genuinely can’t believe what the water looked like afterwards!! 😳😂 This will now be a weekly thing, and as always, everything will be wiped down with Milton wipes between classes as well as a weekly deep clean because hygiene is super duper important to me 💚

Our theme this week is Baby Play! 🌟

We’re celebrating all things play - as we know this is so important for healthy brain development, and some of our activities this week are things you can easily replicate at home too, so there’ll be lots of lovely ideas for you to take away and enjoy with your baby! 🥰

I can’t wait to see you all across the week - welcoming back lots of familiar families, welcoming new families, and as always, having lots of fun together! 🤩💚

Thank you all again for your continued support and for booking with me. It genuinely means so much! There are still a few places available if anyone would like to squeeze a last minute space!

🌟 Let’s talk about our Baby Sensory class structure! 🌟

Each Baby Sensory class is 1 hour long and is carefully divided into 3 parts. This structure is based around your baby’s natural play–rest–play cycle and stays the same every week - even during our parties! 🎉

We know that babies thrive on consistency and routine, so having a familiar class structure helps your baby settle, know what to expect and anticipate all the fun that’s coming! 💚

💛 Sensory Area 💛

We begin and end every class in our Sensory Area, with our yellow mats and white fleeces.

This is where we enjoy our wonderful grown-up-led sensory activities together. We sing, play, explore, learn and have lots of fun all through sensory based activities!

After around 15–20 minutes, we then move into our…

💙 Exploratory Play Area (EPA) 💙

This is your baby’s opportunity to have a rest from the sensory activities and independently explore their surroundings through play.

Our EPA is changed every week and between classes so that the activities and resources are developmentally appropriate for the babies attending each session. This means your baby has new and exciting opportunities to explore while also supporting the skills they are currently developing 💚

The EPA gives your baby the opportunity to:

✨ Explore at their own pace
✨ Make their own choices
✨ Develop confidence and independence
✨ Practise their social skills
✨ Discover new experiences through play
✨ Develop and practise their physical skills

And it’s not just valuable for your baby - it’s also a lovely opportunity for you to chat, get to know other parents, build friendships and create a supportive community too 💚

After around 20 minutes, we return to the Sensory Area for another burst of exciting, grown-up-led sensory activities before we finish our session and wave goodbye! 👋

🌟 But why do we have a break? 🌟

Everything we do at Baby Sensory is research-based, including the structure of our classes.

Babies can only maintain their attention and focus on sensory experiences for a limited amount of time, which is roughly 25 minutes maximum.

The EPA break gives your baby valuable time to process everything they have seen, heard and experienced, while having the freedom to explore and play at their own pace.

This helps your baby to reset, recharge and get ready for the next part of our session, so they can return to the Sensory Area feeling refreshed and ready for more fun! 💚

💙 The EPA is such a valuable part of your Baby Sensory experience 💙
