TODAY, WE ENJOYED WATCHING THE RISING RIVER LEVELS AT FOREST SCHOOL!
We noticed that the river was rising in the morning, so we investigated from a safe distance. We could see the different river channels in the rising water. After lunch, we went to look again and could see that the river had risen even higher. We learned that we should NEVER walk or play in a flooding river, so we kept to a safe distance as we made our observations.

WE LOVE TAKING CALCULATED RISKS AT FOREST SCHOOL!
At the Ark at Wild at Heart, children can choose to take calculated risks at their own pace. They become more confident in their own decisions. Children who learn to trust their own judgement tend to make better decisions as they grow up and become adults.

WE LOVE CLIMBING AND PLAYING ON THE BIG LOGS AT FOREST SCHOOL!
At the Ark at Wild at Heart, the children enjoy climbing and playing on a variety of big logs; the favourite big log is a hollow tunnel with a few 'peephole' windows. The children use their imaginations to play house, bus, submarine and boat.

WE LOVE LEAVING PRESENTS FOR THE BIRDS AT FOREST SCHOOL!
Today, we looked at pictures of bird nests and talked about what we could see. Then we went on a hunt to gather some of the things we noticed in the nests. We found sticks, moss, leaves, feathers and grass. We put these things in egg cartons, along with a little bird seed, and left them around Forest School so that our bird friends could make a nest and enjoy a treat.

WE LOVE TO CREATE OUR OWN ROLE PLAY GAMES AT FOREST SCHOOL!
The children created a shop using pots, pans and utensils from the mud kitchen. They did this completely independently without any adult input. They used the wheelbarrows as their shopping trollies.
At The Ark at Wild at Heart, children have the time, space and resources to use their creativity and work collaboratively to make up their own games, following their own interests. It''s so heartwarming to observe them play.

WE LOVE LOOKING AFTER THE WILDLIFE AT FOREST SCHOOL!
Today we worked together to make bird feeders with apples and our own home-grown sunflower seeds at Forest School. This activity required good social skills as well as fine motor skills as we had to pinch the sunflower seeds to pick them up and push them into the apple.
