We know that every family’s circumstances are different, and we appreciate that not everyone will be able to make alternative arrangements over the next few days.

However, we would kindly ask all families to read today’s heatwave guidance carefully and give serious consideration to whether their child needs to attend during the period of extreme temperatures.

💜 WHAT IS MASKING? 💜

Masking can look different for everyone. It might involve copying others, suppressing stims, forcing eye contact, staying unusually quiet, or trying hard to appear as though everything is fine, even when it isn't.

While masking can help a child navigate certain situations, it often comes at a cost. It can be exhausting, stressful, and make it harder for children to express their true feelings, needs, and experiences.

💡 Remember:
A child who appears to be coping well at school may be using a great deal of energy to do so. Sometimes the effects of masking are seen later, when they are in a place where they feel safe enough to let those feelings out.

💜 WHAT IS CO-REGULATION? 💜

For young children, regulation isn't something they should be expected to do alone. They borrow our calm while their own regulation skills are still developing.

💡 Remember:
Children don't need us to "fix" their feelings. They need us to be alongside them, helping them feel understood, safe, and supported through them

💜 WHAT IS SENSORY OVERLOAD? 💜

For some children, sensory overload might look like covering their ears, becoming upset, withdrawing, having a meltdown, or trying to leave a situation.

💡 Remember: Sensory overload isn't bad behaviour. These reactions aren’t a choice, It's the brain's way of communicating that things feel too intense or overwhelming.

We’re excited to let you know that our photographer will be visiting the setting on Friday morning to take graduation photographs for the children who will be leaving us this summer 📸🎓

If your child was unable to have their photo taken when the photographer visited previously, we will do our best to fit them in on Friday morning. However, as the session is quite busy, we cannot guarantee that additional photos will be possible 💜
