🎄 Lots of fun at Dragonfly this week as the countdown for Christmas begins! We have put our Christmas tree up and decorated everywhere.

The children have been singing and dancing to Christmas songs and listening to Christmas stories. We have lots of Christmas activities ready for the upcoming weeks. 🎄

ROLE PLAY! 💜

This week the children have had a great time in the home corner. We have been learning all about healthy food and discussing our favourite dinners. 🍎
The children have had lots of fun chopping fruit and vegetables and adding their favourite toppings to their pizzas. 🍕

🧸👧🏽👦 Children In Need! 👦👧🏽🧸

This week the children have been busy in our role play area looking after our dollies for children in need.

The children have done a great job at bathing, dressing and giving the dollies medicine.

Today we are all dressed up for children in need and all making donations big or small to such a fantastic charity.

This week the children have painted cupcake cases to make their very own Poppy for remembrance day. ❤️

☀️ At circle time we all talk about the season, weather and days of the week.

📖 Every week we have a new book that we read, that teaches the children all about different feelings and how to deal with different emotions they might experience in real life situations.

✏️ Everyday we discuss the topic of the week and talk about the activities going on that day.

💜 Circle time is a great way for the children to build their social skills. Answering questions and listening to others in a small group. The engaging stories and songs that we do encourage learning.

The children have enjoyed talking about bonfire night this week! Using bright coloured play dough on our new play dough mats and making some beautiful firework pictures using chalk on our chalk board.

We hope you’ve all had a fantastic day - we have been busy dressing up in fancy dress and colouring in some trick or treat signs! The children have enjoyed talking to their friends and teachers about what costumes they will be wearing when they get home.

🎃Here at Dragonfly we have had a very exciting week. The children have especially enjoyed lots of messy play, Halloween art activities and Halloween dress up!

⭐️ Messy play is great for children. It helps to build their fine motor skills and allows them to use their natural curiosity.

🎨 Free painting helps allow the children to express themselves and explore mark making and colour change.

👗 Dressing up and role play encourages creative thinking in a comfortable environment.

🕯️ The children have enjoyed make Diva lamps for Diwali! The children used glue, card and sequins. Everybody has enjoyed learning about the festival of light. 🎆

🎃 HALLOWEEN WEEK 🎃

This week we have the nursery decorated for Halloween and lots of fun activities for the children to enjoy before we break up for half term!

Yesterday the children enjoyed taking all the pumpkin seeds out of our pumpkin and all decided a dragonfly was the best thing for us to carve! We love it! 🎃 🧡

🍁 Another busy week here at Dragonfly!
We’ve had lots of fun exploring all things Autumn. The children have been using Lego blocks to dip in paint and stamp to make some beautiful trees.

We have also been reading lots of different books linked in with our new season.

The children have enjoyed using the play dough to complete the tasks on the play dough mats.

🍂 Lots of fun this week getting stuck in to lots of autumnal activities! The children have been making leaves and pumpkins out of the play dough, painting acorns and coloured in some lovely autumn scenes.

Everybody has enjoyed our “farm shop” this week as we talk about harvest season! 🍁

We are busy this week making hand print acorns in our creative area, as we talk about Autumn and the changes we have noticed in our environment! 🍁 🍂

💐 This week our role play area has been turned into our very own wedding venue! The children have had chance to dress up in dresses and smart clothes, throw and catch the bouquet and sing lots of different songs.

The children enjoyed decorating their own wedding cake and wedding dress pictures! 💐

💜🫖☕️🧁 This week the children have enjoyed our role play area which was transformed into a tea shop/cafe! The children had lots of fun taking it in turns to take orders, serve their friends and pretend to eat lots of food.

The children all got the opportunity to make their very own cupcake picture using different coloured tissue paper and pens. The children told us their favourite flavoured cupcakes and how much they enjoy baking at home.

We have also been using different place mats on the play dough table, using the play dough to decorate and design our very own cakes and biscuits. 🧁☕️🫖💜

🍌🍏 This week the children have had lots of fun exploring our “Supermarket.”

The children have enjoyed weighing fruit and vegetables, handling toy money and talking about healthy eating. 🍌🍎

✏️ 📚 This week we’ve been talking all about moving on to big school as we prepare the older children in our setting for their new exciting adventure!

The children have enjoyed trying on school uniforms and have have been playing in the role play area that’s been set up as a classroom.

We’ve been talking about the different emotions and feelings we have about starting something new. We will be so sad to see the children leave but are so excited for their next big step! ✏️📚

☀️ This week at dragonfly we have been talking all about holidays! The children have enjoyed talking about different countries and what they might pack in their suitcases to visit different places.

The children spoke about their own experiences going on holiday and some very excited children are looking to upcoming holidays!

Everybody got the chance to make their very own passports where the children looked in a mirror and gave a description of themselves!☀️

💙 This week we have been talking about Father’s Day approaching on Sunday!

We’ve spoken all about what jobs our Dads/Grandads do and reasons why they mean so much to us! The children have been getting creative making them something special!🏆

💜 The children have been introduced to our “Smart Tab” this week!

Not only is using the smart tab great for both gross and fine motor skills but we have lots of fantastic apps to help us with mathematics and literacy.

The children have loved being able to use it in pairs and small groups, working as a team, problem solving! 💜

🚗 ✈️ 🚂 Transport! 🚤 🚀 🚴

This week we are having lots of fun learning about different modes of transport! The children have been using benches and chairs to create their favourite transport, taking it in turns to be drivers, pilots and sailors. The children have enjoyed sharing any experiences they’ve had on transport with us all.

We are also looking at road safety and teaching the children how to use zebra crossings and pelican crossings safely.

The children have made their own traffic lights to take home! 🚦

☀️🌳 At Dragonfly we have been making the most of this lovely weather, we are so lucky to have such a big outdoor space.

We have been exploring the sand tray using different tools to make marks, using our fingers to draw shapes and even some letters from our names.

Our water table is always a huge hit, especially on warm days like today! Filling and emptying containers. A great opportunity to practice control and pouring.

👮‍♂️This week we are looking at “People that help us.”

The children are enjoying talking about all the different jobs people do and have shared some wonderful ideas about what they would like to be when they grow up and why.

Our role play area has been transformed into the police station where the children have been busy dressing up, issuing speeding tickets and taking finger prints!👮‍♂️

🍕 The children have all been busy making their own pizzas in our pizza shop this week!

We’ve been talking about what our favourite toppings are and what restaurants we have visited.

We have made pizzas out of play dough which has been great for the childrens fine motor skills, rolling and squashing the play dough.

In the creative area everybody got the chance to decorate their own pizzas to take home. 🍕
