In line with the government’s Violence Against Women and Girls policy, an announcement has been issued today. This is positive news and very much welcomed but until the injustice is dealt with promptly, the anguish continues for the victim.

Victims of r**e and sexual offences will get the justice they deserve, as their cases take priority and new specialist courts are rolled out across England and Wales, the Prime Minister has announced today.

On International Day of Peace, 21st of September, Soroptimist Stafford shares hopes for cessation of conflict globally. Peace stands a greater chance of lasting if women are involved in creating it, particularly as they are often the worst affected non-combatant victims of conflict. United Nations Resolution 1325 exists to support this.

Key Pillars and Focus Areas
Participation: Demands the equal and active involvement of women in all peace negotiations, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and peacekeeping.Protection: Calls for special measures to shield women and girls from gender-based and conflict-related sexual violence.

Prevention: Stresses incorporating gender perspectives into all United Nations peace and security efforts and addressing the root causes of violence against women.

Relief and Recovery: Highlights the unique needs of women and girls during humanitarian crises, repatriation, rehabilitation, and post-conflict reconstruction.
