Launched in Autumn 2003, The Youth Net (previously called Mid Staffs Youth Net) is a Scripture Union Local Misson Partner and charitable trust supported by Christian churches of all denominations.

Last week we celebrated our final lesson with our Year 11s from King Edward VI High School Stafford. They have completed 9 modules to get them a Princes Trust Extended Certificate in Personal Development and Employability Skills, and have done so well in getting there. In the last few weeks of the term, we have been far more relaxed, we’ve had lots of interesting conversations, a trip to Tenpin and decorated mugs for their leaving gift. Well done to all of them and we hope they do well in their exams!

Sam and Maddy had a wonderful morning at The Green ( ). Sam shared some thoughts on past, present and future and everyone took part in some Sacred Space style prayer activities in Response.

It was a joy to welcomed and be able to thank everyone there for their continued support of our work.

During May half term I had the opportunity to meet with Jordan Lambert from Uttoxeter Christian Schoolsworker ( and it’s been a great chance to hear what’s going on in schools there, reawaken some things for the future and think about what shape the project could take. I’m really keen to engage with churches & try to enlist some volunteers, especially for events in the future.

It was a privilege to visit and pray for so many schools last weekend as we walked around Stafford! Many thanks to our supporters Sue and Malcolm who joined us for this leg!

A group from Stafford Youth Net have been doing a 20 mile walk around Stafford today, encompassing all the secondary schools and as many primaries as possible.

They have stopped outside and prayed for as many schools as possible on the way. Included in their prayers are Tillington students, staff and families/communities.

It was lovely to be able to walk around and pray for the schools in Stafford last weekend!

On Saturday, a Christian charity called The Youth Net, who work in Stafford schools and churches and are an incredible blessing to the young people of Stafford, undertook a 20 mile walk to celebrate 20 years of working in Stafford. They walked to every secondary school in Stafford including Stafford College, and past as many primary schools as possible, stopping at each to pray for the students, staff and families represented at each school. Pictured here are some of the team, outside Blessed William Howard, having prayed for the staff and students and remembering those taking GCSEs and A levels especially in their prayers. They also gave thanks for the priests from St Austin's and all they do in our school.

You'll find The Youth Net and details of the walk on their Facebook and Instagram if you want more details. The Youth Net

A prayer for all students (including our Year 11 IF Project pupils) who are starting their exam season today.

Dear God, surround all the children and young people taking exams over the next few weeks with your love and peace. Please help them to remember what they've learnt and to take time to breathe and focus when they feel overwhelmed. Please send encouraging people their way who can help them remember that their worth isn't tied to their grades. Grant them good food and sleep each day. Amen.

Last term included much work with Year 11s considering their futures and managing thoughts of change and transitions as well as exam preparation. On top of this, they and my other clients have been processing bereavements and funerals, relationship issues and red flags, assertiveness and rights, drug and alcohol use, eating disorders and va**ng, gender identity and sexual relationships, ADHD and ASD, anger and fighting.

I conducted 47 individual counselling hours with 11 clients from Years 7-13.

Last week we took the project on the road, delivering our Grill a Christian session to 4 year 8 classes at The Friary School, Lichfield

Maddy took two friends with her - Gav from Wade Street Church and Keith from Lichfield Christian Schoolswork Trust (scroll to see Maddy pulling a face mid-sentence)

Year 8 put us through our paces and we had great fun answering questions of all kinds...

"Whats one of the biggest struggles of being a Christian?"
"Do you believe in Ghosts?"
"What are your thoughts on abortion?"
"Do you believe in Heaven and hell?"
"Do animals have a soul?"

Recently Ali visited St. Leonard's First School & Nursery to lead a Growth workshop about the 5 Ways to Wellbeing. She talked with the children about how we keep our minds and bodies healthy, and taught each of the 5 Ways (Connect, Be Active, Notice, Learn, Give), drawing in wisdom from different world religions. They had a dance party, shared a smile, did a grounding exercise, played "More in Common than a Cold" and did a funny world quiz.

Then the children had time to try different activities connected to the 5 Ways, including learning some First Aid and BSL, trying different exercises, making thank you cards and asking each other "would you rather?" questions.

The children had great ideas about how to keep our minds healthy: sleep, hugs, affirmations, games, meditating, having kind friends, colouring, breathing IN and OUT, reading, board games, learning!

More to come soon..

We had an average of average of 14 children and 10 adults at St Paul's Church Stafford Tots each week last half term. We have had 4 new families join us this half term who have either seen adverts on Facebook or have received recommendations by exciting members to come and join us. We are seeing the families supporting each other with potty training advice and nursery recommendations. We have been enjoying playing with play dough, decorating biscuits, making Mother’s Day cards by painting or hands, and using them as flowers to stick onto a vase shaped card.

Swipe for different stops scheduled into our walk. We've thought carefully about the route and hope it highlights some of the great work we've been doing over the past 20 years.

Google informs us that the average person walks 3 miles an hour, which means this walk should take well over 6 hours - even longer when you factor in toilet &hydration breaks! But we're ready.

The Live Chat/Q&A event has entered its third instalment. March’s event has been the launch of having some guests to come and chat with us/answer questions on the topic of Relationships with Drugs & Alcohol. This is part of our overall yearly theme of Healthy Relationships. We had Anji (part of our team) and Dan Gibbons (Training and Community Engagement Lead at Re-Solv) come and give some incredible insight. The events are open and set-up in a public space in Stafford College so students can listen and hopefully feel safe enough to ask questions.

“I thought the session was really interesting, some good information from Dan and Anji. There were definitely some students listening when I had a look around and a couple of lads came and sat on the table next to me.” – David Bourne – Group Student Engagement and Well-being Coordinator at NSCG Stafford College

You can catch up with the conversation Connect Stafford Youth led at Stafford College recently!

Photos from The Youth Net's post 16/04/2024

Anji uses her previous experience and skills as a drug and alcohol counsellor to deliver awareness workshops to schools, and has recently been to Stafford Manor and Chase Terrace. The students have lots of questions about legal issues, side effects, consent etc.

It's edging closer!! On 18th May we'll be walking 20 miles to celebrate 20 years of The Youth Net's work in and around Stafford.

We're doing this to raise money and raise awareness of the work we do. If you'd like to join us (for 1 mile or 20) We'll be updating you with the route details and highlights in the coming weeks.

In the mean time, if you want to encourage us with some funds, click the link in that bio!
