REPORT: TWT Leadership School 2026 🚩📚
Last month, our first ever Leadership School took place at the beautiful Ingestre Hall! We welcomed an incredible cohort of 32 participants and 10 volunteer facilitators and trainers for 6 days packed with intensive political education, skills training and - of course - collective joy.
We covered a range of topics - from the fundamentals of Marxist theory and the nature of comradeship, to building resilient organisations and doing strategic conjunctural analysis.
The cohort included folks from Bread & Roses, Unite the union (Ford Halewood branch), IWGB, Greens Organise, Bristol Transformed, Living Rent, London Renters Union, STAT, INQUEST, GMTU, Workers for a Free Palestine, Green New Deal Rising, Sheffield Tenants’ Union, RS21, PYM.
This was a real experiment, so we are thrilled that it’s received such positive feedback. One participant said: “This was, genuinely, the best educational experience I’ve ever had. I left feeling reinvigorated, situated within historical struggle as well as a part of a present day network, armed with political and cultural knowledge, optimistic and ready to apply it to my own organisational context.”
So how did we do this? We delivered it with 100% volunteer labour from a small, very committed group. TWT subsidised most of the places, several of them for the full cost, because we prioritised bringing together participants that we thought would benefit most, regardless of whether they came from well funded organisations.
Looking ahead, we’ll be working on making this project financially sustainable, so that we can run it at last once a year and reach even more organisations and campaign groups.
A huge thanks to everyone who helped make this first edition a reality, and of course to everyone who took part - we had a blast, and we can’t wait to do it again. ✊
