☀️🌙 Tomorrow evening (Wednesday 12th August) the UK will experience its most dramatic solar eclipse since 1999!

Safety First:
- Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye.
- Normal sunglasses, cameras and binoculars will not protect your eyes.
- Only view the sun directly if you have certified eclipse glasses.

No Glasses? Try these fun science hacks:

The Colander Trick: Hold a kitchen colander over the pavement. The holes will project dozens of tiny, crescent-shaped shadow eclipses onto the ground.

Nature's Projector: Stand under a leafy tree and look at the ground. The tiny gaps between the leaves act like pinhole cameras, creating mini eclipse shadows everywhere.

Make a Pinhole Card: Poke a tiny hole in a piece of cardboard with a pin. Hold it up to the sun and look at the shadow it casts on a white sheet of paper behind it.

Parents, snap a faceless picture of your children trying out these shadow tricks and share them in the comments tomorrow!

🌟 What an amazing year! 🌟

As we come to the end of another fantastic school year, we would like to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all of our families for your continued support. Your encouragement, kindness and partnership have made such a positive difference throughout the year and we are so grateful to have such a wonderful school community.

To our incredible children – you have been amazing! We are so proud of everything you have achieved. Your enthusiasm, resilience, kindness and hard work have made this year one to remember. You continue to make Parkside Primary School a special place every single day.

A special thank you also goes to our amazing staff team. Their dedication, passion and unwavering commitment to our children shine through every day. They go above and beyond to inspire, support and nurture every child and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do to make Parkside Primary School such a caring, happy and successful place to learn.

We wish all of our pupils, families and staff a safe, happy and restful summer holiday. We hope you enjoy making wonderful memories with your loved ones and take time to relax and recharge.

🌟 To Our Incredible Year 6 Class of 2026 🌟

Tomorrow is your final day of primary school...

It feels like only yesterday you were the little ones just beginning your school journey.

Who could have imagined that, in 2020, when the world changed because of COVID-19, many of you were just Reception-aged children, learning from home, waving to your teachers through computer screens and missing out on so many of those precious school experiences.

Over the years, you've made friendships that will last a lifetime, tackled new challenges, discovered your talents and grown into remarkable young people. We've watched you find your confidence, celebrate successes, learn from setbacks and create memories that will stay with you forever.

To our families...

Thank you for trusting us with your children, for supporting them through homework, school runs, performances, sports days, residentials and every milestone in between.

You've celebrated every achievement, picked them up after disappointments and helped them become the amazing young people they are today.

Tomorrow will be a day filled with smiles, hugs and, no doubt, a few tears.
