Another good news stories from our team, A BIG welcome to Neil and Russell to the Caverswall Crossings 👋🏼

Caverswall Village secures two permanent school crossing patrol officers in time for 🎁

Caverswall Village, a little place near the Moorlands, has always had trouble keeping a permanent school crossing patrol officer.

The village's primary school is only reachable by a small, very busy road. This meant hundreds of children had to cross at least one, but often two busy roads just to get to and from school. But as of 16 November, the village has two great permanent patrol officers!

Neil, who lives in Cheadle, transferred to a permanent position in Caverswall after working there as a mobile school crossing patrol officer. He loved the job and the people in the village and saw how much of a difference his job made in the local community.

He enjoyed it so much so that he chose to stay there permanently rather than taking a crossing in his hometown of Cheadle.

Shortly after, Russell, a retired policeman, started training with Neil. Russell started working permanently outside the Red House pub in the village in mid-November.

Russell's boss, who has witnessed first-hand the many smiles and kind words from people in the village, said, "It's great to see Russell out there making a difference. He's a natural at this, and the people of Caverswall are lucky to have him."

Neil and Russell being permanent fixtures in the village has made a big difference to the safety of children, parents, and guardians in Caverswall. The two crossings are much safer now, and the pupils of St Filumena's Catholic Primary School, Caverswall and their families are grateful for the hard work of these two amazing people ✨

Mr E. Howard, Executive Principal at St. Filumena’s said: "We are delighted to have both crossing patrols working in Caverswall to maintain the safety of the pupils and their families at St. Filumena's.

“Having all our parents parking at the Red House, supports the opportunity for parents to talk more with their children on their way to and from school. This has proven to benefit their well-being and development. Knowing that parents and families can do this in a safe and welcoming environment like Caverswall village is a real benefit to our school and the local community."

Thank you to all School crossing Patrols for all of your hard work and dedication - Merry Christmas! 🎅 we hope you have a wonderful break 🎄 See you all in the New Year!

Here's our very own Emily and baby Alyssa-Rose 🥰

This year our school crossing patrol service, aka the lollipops, celebrated their 70th anniversary. But they also celebrated another achievement…

The first ever school crossing patrol baby!

In 70 years, as far as we know, not one baby has been born to a working school crossing patrol – until now!

Emily who helps little ones and their families to cross the road super safely at Chadsmoor Infant and Nursery School, gave birth to a baby girl named Alyssa-Rose in September.

Mum and baby are doing well, and we send them all our good wishes, especially for Alyssa-Rose’s very first Christmas.

Emily is very much missed by everyone at the school, and although her patrol is being covered until she’s back from maternity leave next year, they’ve sent in a message to say how much they’re looking forward to her return.

“Chadsmoor Community Infant and Nursery School welcome Alyssa-Rose to our extended school family and community.

“We all congratulate both parents and look forward to seeing the little one follow in the huge footsteps of her brothers and sister in her individual school journey.

“We look forward to mum returning to her school crossing patrol role and dad helping out voluntarily with the football coaching he does after school.”

We know that people tend to assume that school crossing patrol officers are older, and in many cases retired. But that’s not the case in Staffordshire!

Our legion of lovely lollipops range in age from 27 to 84, and if you are fit and heathy, it’s a perfect role for anyone who wants a part time job.

It’s a great opportunity to talk to people, help out in the local community and spend time outside which can be really beneficial for mental health and wellbeing.

If you’re interested in joining, or know someone who is, take a look at our current vacancies 👍😀

Here’s Julie and Sam getting a lovely welcome from Landywood Primary school 👋🏼 Both patrols are new to our service. Julie started in January & Sam this week - Welcome to the team ladies!

We are delighted to introduce you to our new Crossing Patrol Officer, Sam (Samantha) (right). From next Monday, Sam will be based on Gorsey Lane at the Spindles Junction. Sam joins our Holly Lane Crossing Patrol Officer, Julie (left), helping children and families at Landywood get to and from school safely. Here are some interesting facts about Sam and Julie to help you get to know them better.

Sam’s favourite book to read is The Twits, she loves to get out on her push bike and enjoys nothing more than spending quality time with her family. Sam’s favourite colour is purple & her favourite food is ham & pineapple pizza with extra pineapple.😊

Julie loves cars, especially performance cars and is currently waiting for her Subaru to be registered from Japan! Julie loves doing crosswords, Christmas jigsaws and most of all loves spending time with her beloved Staffordshire bull terrier, Troy. Julie’s favourite colour is Blue and her favourite food is cheese on toast with a nice mug of coffee on the side 😊
