🍎 Happy World Teacher’s Day! 🍎

Today we want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the wonderful teachers at Tillington Manor.

Teaching is so much more than lessons and learning. It’s about inspiring curiosity, building confidence, celebrating successes, providing reassurance on the difficult days and helping every child believe in what they can achieve.

We are incredibly proud of our dedicated team and the care, energy and commitment they show our children every single day.🌟

🟡HELLO YELLOW – FRIDAY 9 OCTOBER! 🟡

This Friday, we will be joining schools across the country to support YoungMinds’ HelloYellow campaign and help show young people that they are not alone with their mental health.

We’re asking children and staff to wear something yellow to school – this could be a yellow T-shirt, jumper, socks, hair accessory or even just a little splash of yellow!

There is no donation required. This is simply an opportunity for us to come together, raise awareness and encourage positive conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

To celebrate National Poetry Day, Miss Hall led assembly this morning and shared some Michael Rosen poems.

Reception practised their poetry basket poem ‘Wise Old owl’.

Y2 spent some time this afternoon looking at the poem ‘Six Ways of Looking at a Leaf’. In the poem, it made them think about what leaves look like, how they feel and how they move. They then took a word from the poem and wrote it on a leaf.

Y3 shared their feelings about poems and explored facts around ocean pollution. They made posters raising awareness about ocean pollution.

Y4 have had a great day thinking about the Poem ‘The big clean up’ and how to protect our world. They have read, written and made save our planet posters to consolidate their learning. There have been some great poems!

Y5 have looked at a verse from a poem and tried to bring it to life in a picture!

Y6 listened to ‘There’s a Rang-Tan in my Bedroom’. They looked at how animals are mistreated by humans (plastic pollution, global warming, ivory poaching) and then wrote their own poems titled ‘There’s a ______ in my bedroom’. The children loved it!

Supporting Trish – 30 Miles in September!

Many of you will know Trish as one of our lunchtime team and our crossing patrol.

Throughout September, Trish has been taking part in Cancer Research UK’s Walk 30 Miles in September Challenge, raising money to support life-saving cancer research.

Today is the final day of her challenge, so you may have spotted Trish proudly wearing her Cancer Research UK T-shirt at school!

Y4 have been investigating different types of teeth and their purpose. They drew all their teeth, looking at the shapes and comparing if they would be good for chewing or shredding food. 🦷

In maths, they have continued to look at thousands and finding 1000 more or less than a number. Well done, Y4!

🌟 National Teaching Assistants’ Day 🌟

Today we want to say a huge THANK YOU to our wonderful Teaching Assistants at Tillington Manor Primary School.

Our TAs do so much more than support learning. They encourage, reassure, listen, nurture, celebrate successes, wipe away tears and are often the person a child needs at exactly the right moment.

Every day, they go above and beyond for our children and our school. Their patience, kindness, flexibility and commitment make such a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

We are very lucky to have such a dedicated team. 💙

In EYFS, the children have been learning all about their bodies in PSHE.

In Nursery, they’ve been thinking about kind hands and what hands can do, and have worked on brushing their teeth to keep them clean and healthy. 🦷🪥👏🏻

In Reception, they’ve been labelling parts of their body. 👀👅👄👂🏻👣
