🌟 Hello and Welcome! I’m Fiona, Principal Director of Conexus Tuition Stafford and Stone 🌟

I’m so excited to reintroduce myself and share my story with you! I’m a local girl, born and raised just outside Eccleshall and I’ve spent my career doing what I love most—helping children build confidence and achieve their potential.

After 15 wonderful years teaching in Milton Keynes (home of the concrete cows and many roundabouts!), my husband and I decided to move back to Stafford during Covid to be closer to family. That time of reflection made me realise what I loved most about teaching: those magical lightbulb moments when a child suddenly “gets it.” These moments come from creating a secure, supportive environment where children feel confident to learn and grow.

This passion led me to launch Conexus Tuition Stafford and Stone and over the last three years, we’ve grown into a local team of highly qualified teachers dedicated to empowering young learners. We understand the pressures in classrooms and the importance of tailored support, which is why we don’t rely on generic schemes of work. Instead, we use mock papers, exam questions and personalised revision materials to meet the unique needs of every student.

Yes, it's true! Many secondary schools use Year 6 SATs results as a baseline to predict future performance, including potential GCSE outcomes. The SATs provide a measure of a student's current academic ability, which can help schools:

✅ Set initial target grades for GCSEs.
✅ Identify students who may need extra support or intervention.
✅ Stream students into appropriate ability groups.

Although SATs aren't the sole factor in predicting GCSE results, they give schools a starting point to assess students’ progress throughout their secondary education. This predictive use of SATs helps tailor learning and ensure students get the support they need.

In our primary tuition sessions, one way we empower progress is by quickly identifying and correcting misconceptions to build strong mathematical foundations!

For example, one of our learners recently thought that 1000 + 20 = 2000. With expert support from our qualified teacher, they worked through this together and helped the child secure a clear understanding of place value and addition.

Our tutors know the mark schemes for their subject and they discuss these regularly with our students.

Then, when our pupils have understood the significance of the mark schemes and how even the smallest amount of marks matter, we can start to share with them the quick wins.

Our ‘Quick Wins’ help pupils under time pressure, to perform at their best.
We might introduce a mnemonic which helps them to remember how to structure a question or share times tables top tips.

Applying formulas and mnemonics to plans and structures can massively support a child and boost their confidence.
