At Staffordshire Training Services, gas safety sits at the heart of everything we teach.

This week is an important reminder to:

✅ Arrange an annual gas safety check
✅ Always use a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer⁠
✅ Test your carbon monoxide alarms regularly
✅ Never ignore unusual smells, stains, soot or changes to an appliance’s flame
✅ Make sure gas appliances are properly ventilated and maintained

It’s always great to be in the spotlight.

And we’re incredibly proud that Carly Gayle, who completed her Level 3 F-Gas training with Staffordshire Training Services, has been named LCL Awards Trainee of the Year 2026.

Carly joined us through the Enterprise Cheshire & Warrington Women in Skills Bootcamp and stood out for her commitment, enthusiasm and support for others throughout the programme.

Carly works as a BAXI field services engineer on heat pumps, continuing her progression within the low-carbon heating sector.

Having an LCL Awards Trainee of the Year come through STS is a fantastic achievement for Carly and a proud moment for our team.

We’re delighted to announce that STS has been awarded funding along with a selection of other local providers to deliver Staffordshire’s first Skills Bootcamp wave, supporting local people to develop valuable skills for a rapidly growing sector within and .

On Tuesday 1 September, we welcome our first 8 candidates as they begin their Face to Face 8-day programme.

The programme includes:

🔧 OxyFuel Brazing safety and applied skills
❄️ Level 3 accredited F-Gas qualification
📈 Industry-focused skills for the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sector
👷 A clear opportunity to upskill and support the growing demand for skilled professionals across Staffordshire

**GCSE Results Day 🎓**

Today will be a day of celebration for many young people — but for others, the results may not be quite what they had hoped for.

**That doesn’t mean the door to a great career is closed.**

At Staffordshire Training Services, we want young people and employers to know that Maths and English grades do not necessarily have to be a barrier to starting an apprenticeship.

Steam 🌬️ It’s a powerful thing.

It has driven trains, powered machinery and helped build industry. But inside a home, uncontrolled steam can become incredibly dangerous.

When water turns to steam, it can expand to around 1,600 times its original volume. That enormous expansion can create a devastating release of energy if a hot water system is incorrectly installed, poorly maintained or its safety devices fail.

That’s why understanding Hot Water Systems and Safety isn’t simply about passing a course.

It’s about knowing what is right, recognising what is wrong, and understanding the consequences when things go wrong.

If you install, commission or work on unvented hot water systems, you need the knowledge and competency to ensure installations comply with Approved Document G – G3 requirements.

At Staffordshire Training Services, we regularly deliver Hot Water Systems and Safety training for engineers looking to gain or renew their competency.
