What a month it's been!
From little hands carefully chopping salad leaves for our lunch, to curling up together for story time, to crouching down to investigate every nook and cranny of "Bug-ingham Palace" on our nature walk β we've packed in so much exploring, sensing, and doing for ourselves.
Independence has been the theme running through it all. Watching a child hold their own knife and prepare food, choose a book and settle themselves for a story, or lead the way on a walk builds real confidence β and it's brilliant to see how proud they are of themselves each time.
Getting outdoors and using all our senses has been just as important. Smelling the herbs, feeling the textures of bark and leaves, listening for buzzing bug hotel residents, tasting what we've grown or prepared ourselves β this is how young children make sense of the world around them.
All of this links beautifully into the EYFS framework:
π± Personal, Social and Emotional Development β building independence, confidence and self-care skills
π± Physical Development β fine motor skills through cutting, pouring and food prep
π± Communication and Language β sharing stories, asking questions, describing what we find
π± Understanding the World β exploring nature, minibeasts and the changing seasons
π± Expressive Arts and Design β noticing beauty in the natural world around them
It's a privilege to watch these little adventures unfold every day. Here's to more muddy hands, busy minds, and big smiles next month! π
