We are delighted to have received a donation from Tesco. We have received an amazing array of goodies... From cushions to cooking equipment, an outside beanbag and frozen lolly makers - even some compost for the garden. The perfect ingredients for a sun-filled summer term.

Pictured collecting them are Bethan, Tora and Lucy.

Thank you, Tesco!

Dear Parent/Carer,

We would like to warmly invite you to our MacMillan Coffee Afternoon on Friday 27th September. The event will begin at 2.00 pm where cakes and biscuits will be on sale to raise money for this great cause.

The event will also feature “The Great Riverside Bake Off”, a highly competitive event.

We would also be grateful if you could donate any items for the sale.

These can be home baked or bought from a shop, we’re not fussy!

*Please label any that might contain nuts or are gluten or dairy free.

Thank you for your continued support and we’re looking forward to seeing you on Friday afternoon.

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am pleased to let you know that we are supporting Jeans for Genes this week in school. There is a little information below about the work supported by the organisation. One of our core values is “Inclusion” and we are encouraging our students to think about others.

The Jeans for Genes campaign raises awareness of the daily challenges faced by those living with a genetic condition and raises money to fund projects that make a tangible difference to the lives of those affected.

Most importantly, the campaign:

• brings together the genetic condition community in order to make a loud noise about the issues that matter to them,
• shines a light on the organisations that work tirelessly to improve the lives of affected individuals; and
• celebrates the achievements of those living with a genetic condition.

Please find more information on the Jeans for Genes website:
www.jeansforgenes.org

Students are taking part in tasks all week to extend their knowledge and understanding, and on Friday, we are encouraging them to come to school wearing denim and to bring a small donation for this brilliant charity.

Thank you for your continued support and I hope everyone enjoys wearing jeans for genes tomorrow,

Claire Heseltine

"Hello!

We used this wonderful image in assembly this morning to challenge students to be kind today - with Kindness being one of the cornerstones of our 'Can you be more RIK?' campaign.

There have already been some wonderful acts of kindness across our school, including helping with physiotherapy and bringing lunch to a busy member of staff.

Today, in celebration of Roald Dahl day, there has been an ongoing quiz that we thought we could share with you. How good is your Roald Dahl knowledge?

1. Name one of the insects inside the peach with James.
2. Which bird features prominently in "Danny, Champion of the World"?
3. Which visitor to the chocolate factory was turned into a blueberry?
4. Who was Matlida's favourite teacher? 5. Name one way you can spot a witch?
6. Who did George give his marvelloud medicine to?
7. What does the BFG keep in jars?
8. Where does the giant peach end up?

Have a go and see if you can answer them all!"

In honour of International Literacy Day we want to share our new reading initiative with you.

This year, we are having a book of the term in the library. This half term, we are looking at "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" by Holly Jackson.

This is a brilliantly constructed page turner that keeps the reader guessing until the end... What did happen to Andie Bell five years ago? It seems as though everyone in Little Kilton has a secret.

This is a great read for our students as it has relatable, well constructed characters, and touches on a range of relevant issues as well as having a brilliant story.

It's also our student-librarian's favourite book!

Welcome back to another exciting year at St Neots - despite the damp and dreary start to September.

We continue to build upon the last two years of successes and strive towards been an Outstanding SEMH provision for Cambridgeshire. This year we have the privilege of introducing new developments into our academy including:

- the new therapy hub
- the RMA #99 Challenge
- Riverside Meadows PLEDGES for Participation, Leadership, Excellence, Diversity, Giving, Environment and Service
- the continued roll out of new ICT technology
- introduction of 'Preparation For Adulthood', covering life skills such as shopping, travel, money, first aid and careers
..and perhaps most important of all, our SLT Team are asking,

"Can you be more RIK?"

That is the challenge for our students this year as we adopt the school values of Respect, Inclusivity and Kindness following a democratic vote with the students and staff last term.

Keep an eye on our social media and website for further updates, upcoming important dates and ways that you can become involved with our journey.

As we close the 2024 academic year, I would like to thank all students and parent/carers for your support and hard work this year as we continue to drive our school improvement.

September 2024 will bring some new changes of staff for both sites, an improved curriculum and new focus for improvement.

We look forward to that next stage of the journey with you all, and wish you a restful summer break.

The autumn term will resume on Thursday 5th September, 2024.
