We have had so much fun during the Easter school holidays. The children enjoyed all of the activities and here is just a snippet of some of them. Some activities were, a trip to soft play, perfume making with flowers, scented water and herbs. Baking, painting Easter decorations, colouring our tote bags for our Easter egg and crafts to go home 🐣

SPRING 🌼 🌻

The children thoroughly enjoyed our spring activities this week.

We collected daisy's, froze them and then tried our best to melt the ice using warm water and salt.

*Salt works by lowerering the freezing or melting point of water.
*The salt interferes with the ice crystals and by mixing with the liquid water on the melting ice it speeds up the melting process.

After I present the activity to the children and show what the outcome is, it is then up to them what they do. They have freedom of play to do as it is or extend the activity in their own way. 🌼

Today we learnt about Ireland 🇮🇪 and St Patrick’s Day. We collaged a shamrock with paper ☘ This extended our understanding of the world and our expressive art and design skills.

*Saint Patrick’s Day, held on the 17th of March each year, is a religious and cultural holiday that celebrates the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. This date represents and commemorates the death of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.

*Saint Patrick's Day has become a celebration of Irish culture, being celebrated around the world with parades, dancing, music and special foods.

*Originally labelled a Christian ‘feast day’ in the 17th Century, Saint Patrick’s Day bases itself on the legends that have been passed down about the Patron Saint through the centuries.

British Science Week 2022 is here. It's a ten day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths and it runs between the 11th and 20th of March. The theme this year is GROWTH. So we decided on a growth science experiment of mold and bacteria.

*The children watched a short clip about mold and bacteria and the importance of hand washing.
*We have a control piece of bread, a piece that has been touched with washed hands, a piece that has been touched with hand sanitiser and a piece that has touched a laptop.
*We will keep an eye on our experiments and will document our findings soon.

We celebrated World Book Day by speaking about the characters in our books, dressing up and by watching short clips. We did a few story telling acts too.

*Give reading a special place in your children's lives
*Re-tell well known stories through play
*Become your favourite book character
*Bring some of your favourite books to life with art and crafts
*Encourage children to write books of their own

PANCAKE DAY-It happens on a different day every year to mark the start of the Christian festival of Lent.

Shrove Tuesday is the beginning of the 40 days leading into Easter, which will be observed on Sunday 17 April in 2022.

Lent is traditionally a time of fasting and sacrifice, and often Christian children give things up - such as chocolate.

The children had such an amazing day. We watched a short film on BBC. They had a pancake batter style sensory tray and we enjoyed a pancake each.
