BACK TO SCHOOL! 🎒 | A new academic year is upon us!

The 2026-27 academic year began today and it was wonderful to see new faces amongst those returning, pupils moving into new year groups, last year’s Kindergarten pupils proudly wearing their Year 1 uniforms, new boarders arriving from corners of the world and Year 7 making the move from Junior School into Senior School.

BIG COMEBACK | In case you missed it, a St Leonards icon has returned 🐓🌞

After some time away following damage from Storm Éowyn last year and some expert refurbishment, our weather vane is officially back where it belongs.

It’s once again part of the St Andrews skyline, just in time for the next academic year 😌

WELL DONE 🌟| Congratulations to our hardworking GCSE and Pre-IB (IGCSE) pupils on a strong set of results this year!

More than 91% of entries were graded 9-4 (A*–C equivalent), with 44% of all grades reaching 9-7 (A*/A equivalent) and 30% awarded the highest grades of 8/9!

We also had some fantastic individual achievements too, with nine pupils securing more than six grades at 8/9 and seven achieving a clean sweep of grades at 9-7. Strong performances were seen across a broad range of subjects, including History, Art, Mathematics, English and Science.

We look forward to seeing them take their next steps as they progress to the IB Diploma and Career-related Programmes. 👏

These results round off a fantastic summer of academic achievement across St Leonards. Behind every grade is a huge amount of hard work and commitment, and we are incredibly proud of everything our pupils have achieved.

ANOTHER ROUTE | A-level results are in, so what comes next? 💭

For families considering the next step after A-levels, there’s more than one route to university. An additional year can offer young people the chance to strengthen their academic results and profile, build confidence and prepare for the opportunities ahead.

Our new Postgraduate Programme offers just that, combining further academic study with opportunities to pursue individual interests and develop greater independence before university.

Based in St Andrews, Scotland’s coastal, world-renowned university town and the Home of Golf, pupils also have access to opportunities across sport, creative activities and our Golf Academy.

Hear from St Leonards golfer Annie as she takes us through her experience at the Scottish Golf U14 Open Championship at Edzell Golf Club this week!

Across two rounds, Annie was one of 144 players representing 15 nations, finishing as the top Scottish player in the championship. 👏

St Leonards was delighted to partner with Scottish Golf as an official sponsor, supporting a championship that welcomed so many talented young golfers to compete in Scotland.

RESULTS DAY | Congratulations, IBCP Class of 2026! 👏

We are thrilled to see another truly fantastic set of results for our graduating class of 2026, with this year’s IBCP cohort achieving an average of 145 UCAS points, equivalent to AAA at A-Level.

The graduating IBCP class have secured places at higher education institutions across the UK and internationally. This year’s leavers are heading to destinations including Mountview Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, the University of Stirling, and Jacksonville State University in the US, among others.

A special congratulations to Martin, who led the IBCP cohort with a fantastic 186 UCAS points. He will take up his studies at the University of Minnesota in the autumn, having been signed on a scholarship to their NCAA Division 1 golf programme.

Combining career-focused learning with IB Diploma courses, service learning, language development and real-world skills, the IBCP gives pupils the opportunity to build their academic knowledge alongside practical experience.

It’s been fantastic to see this year’s cohort make the most of everything the programme offers; we wish them every success as they prepare for life beyond St Leonards.
