A big thank you to Peter at St Andrews Botanic Garden for giving us your time and expertise in selecting the best plants for our planter 🌿

The children happily planted and watered each one with love and care and are looking forward to seeing them flourish in the coming months 🌾

📝 In service day Wednesday 11 February 2026📝

Yesterday we hosted both Cupar and Newport Little Beehive Nursery staff for training on “Quality interactions & Observations” lead by Kerryn and Sasha from Fife Council Early Years Development 📚

We then sat down for a well deserved lunch before gathering for an HR meeting with Carol and Jenna from Head office followed by a whole team meeting🍽️ 📊

The afternoon was taken up with room development and parent meetings 💫 🗣️

A very busy day but a very successful day too!

🚴‍♀️Charity Cycle 🚴‍♀️

Today, our team participated in a 10-hour charity cycle, with a target of cycling 100 miles. We are thrilled to announce that we exceeded our goal, covering a total of 114 miles!

We are thrilled to announce that we have recently registered to become a rights-respecting nursery through an award from UNICEF. There are three stages to achieve: bronze, silver, and gold, which we must complete to progress through each level!

What is the Rights Respecting Schools Award?

'The Rights Respecting Schools Award places children's rights at the core of school life in the UK.

The UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) collaborates with schools across the UK to create safe and inspiring learning environments. In these settings, children are respected, their talents are nurtured, and they are empowered to thrive. Our Rights Respecting Schools Award incorporates these values into daily school life, affording children the best opportunity to lead happy, healthy lives and to grow into responsible, active citizens.

The Award acknowledges a school's commitment to implementing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child both within the school and in the wider community.'

Charity Week 🐝

I’m so excited to share that from Monday 25th August, we’ll be taking part in Charity Week, raising money for Families First - St Andrews , a local charity based in St Andrews.

We’ve got lots planned here at the nursery including:

Exercise Bike Challenge 🚴‍♀️ – Head office have challenged us to hit 100 miles in 10 hours; they will donate £2 for each mile up to that total and an extra £150 if we are the nursery that cycles the furthest!

Sponsorship Forms 📄 – For children to take home and do their own fundraising – maybe a sponsored walk, skip, or hop – it’s a fun way to get the whole family involved.

Senior Management Walk – Our senior management team will be walking 20 miles from St Andrews to Dundee to boost our fundraising total! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

💡Electricity💡

This afternoon, the children had a fantastic time learning about electricity💡Emma, our trainee, who is also a trained electrician kindly created a light board to demonstrate how electricity works. She ensured everything was safe before explaining the wiring to the children. They even got the chance to use tools to cut pieces of wire and to use the volt pen to test the electric current. What a wonderful learning opportunity 😀
