What a wonderful month we’ve had at Oakland Hall.

The children across the nursery have been engaging with a variety of summer themed activities, which focuses around our curriculums monthly theme.

We’ve all enjoyed spending time outdoors (when it’s not been too hot) and enjoying our beautiful new resources in both of our gardens. We’ve also been participating in sports day too, which the children have throughly enjoyed.

We can’t wait to see what July will bring to our nursery!

At Oakland Hall we follow our own curriculum, ā€˜Creating Confident Learners’, which has been created by Sam our curriculum coordinator. This curriculum supports each individual child with their confidence, identity and emotional wellbeing.

Creating confident learners is a progressive EYFS aligned curriculum, which focuses around our five developmental stages. Within the nursery, we have a monthly theme which all of the rooms follow, and every week each room focuses on a book of the week. All of the activities carried out in the room are focused around the book of the week, and we also teach the children a makaton sign and wow word each week, to further develop the children’s knowledge around each book.

Alongside this, the children participate in a variety of daily enriched group activities. Each day the children will participate in bucket time to develop their concentration skills, squiggle whilst you wiggle to develop their gross motor skills, and guided drawing which helps to support children with their grasp of holding drawing tools and creating their own drawings.

Furthermore, the children in Super Saplings and Mighty Oaks follow two platforms called anima phonics and white rose maths. The children will participate in activities each day linking to both of these platforms, which allows them to amplify their academic skills focusing around phonics and maths.

At Oakland Hall the children have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extra curriculum activities, to add further opportunities and learning experiences to your child’s nursery journey.

These activities are carried out weekly with the children, and they are all so thrilled to participate with each one, as well as using the resources provided to fulfil their experience.

We are very lucky to have All Sorts Tots, Tiny Toes Ballet and PE with Coach Dan attend our setting. Each of these sessions, involve your children engaging with a variety of physical activities whether this be dancing along to the music using the instruments, practicing their first position and plie, and using the bean bags to develop their throwing and catching skills. These sessions allow your children to develop their gross motor skills, alongside building their self-confidence and social skills, in a fun and interactive way.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to give you all a huge thank you for bearing with us while rooms may look a little emptier than usual, walls get stripped back, and areas are in progress! We really appreciate your patience while we work hard to create a fresh and inspiring space for your children.

We’re also very excited to be welcoming our brand new nursery logo (attached)! Over time, this will appear on new signage and a new website too!

While things around us may be changing, we want to reassure you that our ethos, values, and the high standard of care we provide for your children will not change.

Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding. We’re so excited to share these changes with you and can’t wait to see the nursery grow and flourish in the months ahead!

If you have any questions, please speak to Carmen or Tia.

We are wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Kind regards,

The Oakland Hall Team
