Friday 16th December, saw the devastating permanent closure of nursery. It is appalling the government has left child care providers like ourselves, little choice in making such a decision. Years of underfunding, combined with the current living crisis has plunged the sector in its own crisis. The government are choosing to ignore and it is achieving very little media attention. Recruitment is becoming impossible. The majority of the workforce are on minimum wage. To put into perspective, graduate seniors and managers who continue with professional development are no where near on salaries of a starting nurse. Action needs to take place very soon!
On a brighter note, it has been a privilege to work in partnership with so many wonderful families over the years and have the opportunity to bond with the children and contribute to their learning and development.
I have also been blessed and thankful for, what I call my two teams I have had, past and present. It has been a honour working with each and every one of them and appreciate their contribution to making the E&C what it was to so many.
