One minute I’m drawing a monster called Jeffery 👾 and the next we’re working on reflexive verbs, complex structures and GCSE Spanish. 😂

That’s one of my favourite things about what I do.

I teach children, teenagers and adults at completely different stages — but my goal is always the same:

to get them actually USING Spanish and English (English lessons)❤️

My 1:1 timetable is currently full 🥹, but I do have a few spaces remaining in my small online groups:

I don’t just want my students to memorise Spanish long enough to pass an exam. 🇪🇸

Of course, we work on grammar, vocabulary, tenses and exam technique — but I also want them to feel confident enough to:

🎤 speak without overthinking
🎮 learn through games and challenges
🧠 think for themselves
❌ make mistakes without feeling embarrassed
🔄 try again

Because confidence isn’t built by always knowing the answer. It’s built by being willing to have a go. ❤️

Receiving a message saying that two of my students had started speaking Spanish at home as their own “secret language” genuinely made my day. 😂🤫

That is success to me: Spanish becoming something they actually want to use outside our lessons.

A little about me 👋 I’m Flavia, a qualified teacher from Madrid with more than 18 years of teaching experience. I’ve been running my online language academy since 2017, helping children, teenagers and adults learn Spanish in small, supportive groups where everyone has plenty of opportunities to participate.

My current online groups include:

A relaxed, friendly group with lots of speaking practice

All times are UK time, and my groups are kept very small so every student receives individual support.

AUNQUE is one of those little words I want my GCSE students to become VERY comfortable using. 🇪🇸

Instead of:

❌ Me gusta el español. Es difícil.

Try:

🔥 Me gusta el español, aunque a veces es difícil.

Or:

🔥 Aunque es bastante caro, merece la pena.

🔥 Aunque prefiero el verano, el invierno puede ser divertido.

One connector. Much more interesting answers.

Does this happen to you? 😂

📚 You understand the grammar.

📱 You can read quite a lot.

🇪🇸 Then a Spanish person asks you something...

and suddenly every Spanish word you've ever learnt disappears. 😳

At B1, you don't necessarily need to spend all your time learning more Spanish.

You need opportunities to retrieve and USE the Spanish you already have.

That's a huge part of my Friday adult group:

🧠 thinking in Spanish
💬 vocabulary building
😂 making mistakes without worrying about them

BIG STEPS all round this week 🥹🇪🇸🎒

What a first week back!

My new GCSE Year 9, Year 10 and Year 10/11 groups have officially started, and I genuinely couldn't have asked for a better beginning. ❤️

Lots of Spanish, lots of thinking, plenty of mistakes (exactly how we learn! 🙌), new grammar, speaking, games and — most importantly — students willing to have a go.

To every student who joined me this September: you should be so proud of yourselves. 🥰

And to all the parents who have chosen and trusted me to support their children with their Spanish — thank you. It genuinely means a lot to me. ❤️🇪🇸

Meanwhile, behind the scenes at Flavia's Language Academia...

My own two little girlies started PRESCHOOL on Monday. 😭🎒

So between new GCSE groups, lessons, planning, messages, preschool drop-offs and two very excited little girls... it's been a slightly hectic week. 😂

But they did AMAZINGLY well too. 🥹

New groups. New routines. New adventures.

Here’s a little glimpse inside one of my online GCSE Spanish groups. We don’t just memorise vocabulary—we practise using Spanish spontaneously, building longer answers and becoming more confident speaking aloud.

At B1 level, sometimes the missing piece isn't another grammar exercise — it's having regular opportunities to actually USE what you already know.

Yes... that IS Bluey's house in my Spanish lesson 😂🇪🇸

I teach children, teenagers, GCSE students AND adults — so my lessons obviously don't all look like this 😂

But the principle is always the same:

**Students need to USE the language.**

Speak it.
Think with it.
Play with it.
Make mistakes with it.
And gradually become confident using it.

That's why I love making my online lessons interactive.

They don’t need to begin intense GCSE revision—and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Year 9 is the ideal time to start building strong foundations gradually:

🎤 Speaking confidence
🧠 Core grammar
📚 Useful vocabulary
💬 Longer, more developed answers
👂 Listening skills

The aim isn’t to give students more homework or make GCSE Spanish feel stressful.

It’s to help them reach Year 10 feeling confident, prepared and knowing where to begin.

And Spanish lessons don’t have to be endless worksheets!

We talk. We play. We think. Most importantly, we actually USE Spanish. 🇪🇸

My small online Year 9 GCSE Spanish group starts in September:
