Year 6 have had a great afternoon with Sam our local PCSO learning about drug, alcohol and ni****ne addiction. We discussed legal ages and laws based around drugs and alcohol, learnt some of the long and short term affects these substances may have on the body and lastly tried on the beer googles to walk an assault course and aim at a target which we all found hilarious! The children have talked through scenarios where they may feel under pressure from friends or peers. Thanks for a great PSHE lesson Sam!

Our hard working gardeners picked a load of fresh strawberries this morning and passed them on to Sam and Gemma in the kitchen to prep ready for lunch! We love teaching the children how to nourish and grow their own produce to enjoy! πππ

Yesterday we took 20 children to the Primary Athletics competition in Shildon. We had a fantastic day and the children were brilliant at encouraging and supporting each other. We even had some record breakers!! Jessica and Charlie both broke the county record for the Triple Jump!! Joey came 2nd in the 800m and along with Jessica and Charlie, they will represent the Sedgefield district in the County Finals. The girls 4 x 100m relay team came 3rd and received bronze medals and the mixed 4 x 100m relay team came 2nd and received silver medals! What a great day for team KMPS!! π

This morning, our keen gardeners have picked, washed and trimmed down the spring onions we have grown. If youβd like to grab some, theyβll be available at home time tonight in our main reception and all we ask is for a small donation to go back into our gardening fund. We also gave a bunch of onions to Sam in our kitchen to use with sweet chilli noodles this week! Taste testers said they were delicious! π Year 6 will be using more produce from the school garden over the next few weeks as part of their cookery βcome dine with meβ unit in DT. π©βπΎπ§βπΎπ¨βπΎ

As our gardening after school club comes to an end, we have enjoyed working as a team caring for our plants and vegetables, creating fairy gardens, bird feeders and nourishing our raised beds! Well done to the children. We look forward to seeing our plants grow over the summer and enjoying some tasty fruits and vegetables π π« π₯ π
