Today’s mud play with diggers was a great child led, open ended play, where there is no right outcome.

Following on from last week the children painted their very own buzzy bees and we took them out and about to see if we could find some in action……

🐝 What flower does the bee like?
“You’re pointing at the yellow flower.
I wonder why the bee likes that one?”

🐝 How do you think the bee moves?
“You’re moving from side to side like the bee and flapping your arms”

🐝What do you think the bee is looking for? “More flowers”

🐝 Can you find another bee?
“I can see a buzzy bee on the purple flower”

We spotted 5 buzzy bees on our walk today as they buzzed from flower to flower 🌺 🌼🌸🪻

When one of your little ones brings you the most beautiful hand picked flowers 💐 🥺🩵

Following a little one’s interest in bees is a great way to help keep learning meaningful as we encourage curiosity, language development, and care for the natural world.

🚜 That’s not my tractor🚜


Today the children enjoyed the wonderful story of……

“That’s not my tractor” 🚜

We explored the different textures on each page as they recognised and used language development through touch.

We collected things around our feet to make our very own textured tractor. It became a treasure hunt and I must say there was some great ideas. Sticks, leaves, grass, flowers……

We encouraged the children to spot the little mouse which is hidden on every page 🐭

🍏🍊 Fruit Soup 🍋🍋‍🟩

We provided the children's with bowls of water with large fruit slices, spoons to stir with and we pretended to make fruit soup.

We encouraged simple words like “stir"
"apple" “orange" “spoon” and “pour”

This activity is a great way to help build sensory awareness, fine motor skills, language, and early vocabulary while keeping play simple and engaging.
