Glenis Malkin has been a highly successful and sought-after cello and piano teacher for over 30 years. A graduate of London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Glenis played professionally in London with orchestras including The Orchestra of St John's Smith Square and the BBC. She was awarded the Guildhall School Cello Prize and the Jenny Hayman Memorial Prize and a Shell/London Symphony Orches
tra Scholarship. Many of her students have gone on into the professional playing world and become teachers in their own right. She is an experienced director of children's and student ensembles and has also worked as an examiner for Trinity College, London.. I must thank you so much, so much, so much. Without you I would never have had the chance to study in the Royal College of Music, hence cannot graduate from there. It has been six years since I first met you, and in these years I have learned so much from you, as a cellist, as a musician and as a human. Glenis, you are a wonderful cello teacher. I have enjoyed learning cello from you in the past and I will always remember what you have told me’. Fan Yeung, now conductor of the Hong Kong University Students’ Orchestra
‘Dear Mrs Malkin, I started doing the cello because I liked the instrument, but now I am looking forward to the lessons not just because I loved playing the lovely music, but because I think you are a great teacher. I hope I have a great big career with my cello and I hope you are the one who taught me.’
Lia, aged 9
‘I have such fond memories of your truly wonderful, warm and unique teaching’. Former pupil Gabriella Swallow
"Glenis Malkin has been a marvellous role model for my daughter. Her endless knowledge of music has inspired her during each lesson and consequently she has achieved a distinction at each grade. She has taught her to play confidently and sensitively; playing a wide range of contemporary and classical pieces. She is a fantastic teacher and has enabled my daughter to grow in confidence as a musician - long may it continue!"
