JOHN HARROX
Moulton residents will be familiar today with the name of former resident JOHN HARROX - even though he died in 1561. He had been steward to Sir John Harrington of neighbouring Weston.
In his will he made provision for the building of a GRAMMAR SCHOOL in the village, which was duly built in 1562, catering initially for just 10 pupils. The school flourished over the centuries. It amalgamated with Spalding Grammar School in 1939, at which point the establishment in Moulton closed.
One of the old Grammar School buildings still exists, standing proudly in the village green. Now a private dwelling, HARROX HOUSE was built in the late 1700s.
The name Harrox lives on in other parts of Moulton:
HARROX ROAD, a modern housing estate, JOHN HARROX PRIMARY SCHOOL and MOULTON HARROX SPORTS FIELD.

Well done to all GCSE students! We wish
all students well on their next course of study, and look forward to seeing all students that join SGS in September.

One in three of the 1,400 GCSEs earned by Spalding Grammar School were in the top even to nine grades. Well done 👏

EXAM RESULTS 2026: Our GCSE PE cohort’s results are outstanding with the group averaging a whole grade above their school targets. The group achieved 76% Grade 7-9 with the average grade being 7.5. Both outcomes are the highest one of our cohorts has produced since the introduction of numerical grading! Within the 29 students there were eight Grade 9’s, eight Grade 8’s and six Grade 7’s! The boys deserve full admiration for their commitment to the course with Mr. Walker, particularly having all been in one large theory group.

Our A-Level PE cohort achieved 33% Grade A*-B which is a large increase in the number of students achieving the highest grades from last year! This included one Grade A and seven Grade B’s. A special mention goes to these students who have all spent the seven years committing to SGS PE! The two theory groups have worked well throughout the course with Mr. Venables, Mr. Crane & Mr. Coles and are now ready for the next step in their lives.

We are looking forward to seeing a large number of our GCSE PE cohort, and new external students, progress into A-Level PE in September. For those who have opted to leave SGS, and to our Year 13 cohort, we wish you good luck for the future and hope you enjoyed your SGS PE journey!

Well done to all GCSE students! We look forward to seeing you in September, and wish everyone well on their next chapter.
