This morning, our Year 1 children took part in an exciting GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt with the National Literacy Trust and British Council to set a new record for the most people reading online in 12 hours! 📚

The children joined a live webinar with an author, who read her wonderful book to us, and then got creative with a fun draw-along session with the illustrator. ✏

They then joined thousands of other children across the country in reading together as part of this amazing world record attempt.

A fantastic celebration of the joy of reading, creativity and coming together as a community!

In History, Year 1 and Year 2 explored toys their grown-ups played with when they were younger.

It was fantastic to see so many amazing examples of toys, which the children really enjoyed. 🤩

A huge thank you to all families who brought / sent in toys for the children to look at and play with.

Year 2 explored a range of wild plants and garden plants. We had a visitor bring in examples from the local area so we could look at, touch and smell them. 🌿🍂

Some of them had interesting names like the Rabbits Ear, who has this name because it feels so soft.

We were able to keep part of a Pine Tree which we are growing ready for Christmas. Keep a look out to see it growing and decorated in December! 🎄

This week, some of our pupils attended a volunteering day at Focus4Hope. 🫶

This was their final visit, having been several times before to volunteer.

At the visit, they labelled some bags that are sold in the shop with the Focus4Hope logo, sorted and arranged donations, checked fruit and vegetable donations to pick out what can be used in the food packages and explored the shop to understand how donations are made and sold on to help fund care packages.

Well done to our pupils who gave up their time to attend and help in the community. 🥰

Year 1 and 2 have brought in their favourite toys to show in their "Toys Over Time" unit in History. 🧸🚂🛻

They used new vocabulary to describe how they feel and why they are so special.

We are very excited to see what toys our grownups played with soon.

📅Don't forget parents/carers are invited into school on Monday 5 October from 2:15pm - 3pm to showcase these.📅
